It went wrong when it stopped being vroom vroom movie and started to be more pew pew movie.

Let me tell you about my boy Paul Walker. It was the early two thousands and white dudes were out. The masses had been programmed for diversity. Kids in those days listened to Hip Hop, RnB, and gangster rap. They liked Will Smith and the black guy from Whose Line is it Anyway? and blackness was all the range. Sure we had Eminem but he wasnt cool. White guy hobbies were lame. Traditional sports were out in favour of the black sportsmen.
Then the Fast and Furious happened. Suddenly this white dude appeared on the scene. Women wanted him, men wanted to be him. Imagine Ryan Gosling but better looking. That was Paul. My dads generation idolised Steve McQueen, he was the king of cool. For us it was Paul Walker. Then 2 Fast hit. Overnight every guy wore a white t with blue jeans and converse. We all wanted a Nissan Skyline. The way Paul was cool around minorities was symbolic. No longer did white guys want a black friend. Black guys wanted a dude like Paul Walker in their crew. Women of all races wanted a blue eyed blond haired Nietzschean superman. If it wasnt for Paul an entire generation would have been lost. He singlehandedly ushered in the 2000's. When he died thats when it all ended. White guys were once again reviled and no longer could we depend on Paul. With his 10/10 appearance and mass appeal. Ever since we have mourned.

I'll always be thankful to Paul Walker. He showed an entire generation of white guys how to appropriately interact with nonwhite people in 2000's America when we actually had to begin giving a shit about their opinions and desires. Whenever I have to meet a black or Latino person, I always just start acting like Paul Walker and everything's fine and I feel much more calm and confident about being a white male and for a brief minute when we bump fists, it's like slavery and colonization and smallpox never even happened and I can just enjoy a nice Corona with friends.

It's a personal preference, I like to see more races instead of unnecessary fights and shootings.

Because it’s got well utilized characters who all feel like they contribute something and there’s genuine pathos atop of a great heist and baller third act chase. And of course the Rock is great antagonist turned ally.

The worst part of the film is the weird decision to use cgi in some scenes and the whole rice vs muscle angle it has going.

Beyond that its fine for what it is. I havent seen any of the movies past 6 or 7? But the 2nd is easily the worst of the series just because its such an odd ball.

Tokyo Drift has the best racing scenes but the acting is awful.

You're right. But for me it doesn't rely on its own code (underground races, stealth and dead or live situation with a spying cop) but rather stels others successful movies' ones (hence the "le heist project")

In this regard, the fourth one correspond more to the F&F formula with the spying mission, the revenge for Letty, the search for Dom and their lost friendship, the fucking mountain race. But because the protagonists are well "shoe horned" with the help of the heist plan and a great Dwayne Johnson, it is more appealing. While, in fact it just sets up the formula for its own fall (the bank robbery is awesome but where it jumped the shark).

Now we have le quirky guy, le big boy Dwayne Johnson acting tough, le heist plan against a supposedly charismatic bad guy we don't care about, le family theme used to death. Soulless and all of this set up by the fifth one.

At first I thought that their dad had to be some big shot, but it turns out their dad is the founder of the Benihana restaurant and used to be a wrestler.

What a funky family.

The original movie steals its entire plot from Point Break and just switched surfing to racing.
