That being said, "overly careful as always" knowingly sending one of your guys into a DEA observation isn't overly careful, it's 100% insanity. I don't want to imply that BrBa/BCS is realistic or strives to be, but for lack of better words this was totally unrealistic, the odds of that guy getting caught at the dead drops were way too high, nobody in their right mind (and Gus always is) would risk that. That’s not what is happening. Kim is rebelling against Mesa Verde. That concept has been in the early stages of growth since at least early last season. I haven’t watched the other seasons in a while, but I distinctly remember Kim getting a little shitty with that short-haired Mesa associate. It’s not out of character for Kim to be going full retard like this, because it’s in her nature, like Jimmy (and like Mike as well). She has always had a dirty, don’t-play-by-the-rules mentality underneath her. This is where the Gazelle stuff came from. With this new Mesa Verde shit she’s doing, she’s just finally rebelling full-on. She’s letting it consume her.

Jimmy, Kim, Mike, and Nacho’s stories are told because they all have to do in some capacity with the struggle between a life of restraint and discipline, staying in the lines, etc. and one of an overflow of fulfilled inner urges and passions. Jimmy and Kim’s stories are the most similar.

I doubt they were unaware of the plan. There's the issue of one of them spilling the beans, so they were probably coached. The last dead drop guy, the one that got away, seemed to know the DEA was going to show up and that he needed to drop the money.
Maybe Gus did that thing where his guys go to jail for a while but in return their families get lots of cash and protection.

Literally the only good thing on the show right now. Mike and Gus's arcs were always garbage. Pointless hollow fanservice. Jimmy has no arc this season, and is just a part of Kim's (which is fine).
