Isn't it exciting to know the afterlife is really a hellscape full of angry mushrooms? Thanks, mycelial network!

Star Trek's WOC:

1. B'Elanna Torres
2. Hoshi Sato
3. Michael Burnham
4. Philippa Georgiou
5. Guinan
6. Raffi Musiker

Ranked by how much I want to have sex with them.

The best one for me is the indian security chief.

>Guinan above Raffi
Interesting choice.

I might let her slot in after Mike.

star trek

Guinan would be fun and nice. Have you seen that scene where she flirts with Riker? Raffi is mean and naggy. And she'd smell bad.

Don't pretend you hate Trek comedy episodes. Fart jokes make space travel possible.

Best Trek comedy episode? Hard mode, best one that doesn't star EMH?

Preemptive Strike

Guinan does have a fun personality. As long as she doesn't psychoanalyse and tell me a vague story about how great her people are at sex after I finish in under 8 minutes, I guess that could be a nicer time. Raffi would be like, "put it wherever" and pass out in 3 minutes so there's less pressure, but probably no breakfast.

She was the best 'strong female' character in STD. Treated her role seriously, not a Mary Sue like Michael, not a corny evil seductress like Georgiou, not woman of power gimmick, like the fucking hubris admiral or the klingon "call me mother" cunt, she didn't trash/tough talk too much, like the woke writers often make their strong female do (see The Expanse' Gunny as a recent example of that). And she actually die, horribly, twice.

Just a quiet soldier, without waving her imaginary dick of female superiority. Like they should be written if you want male soldiers in your fiction. Reserved and cool, not a fucking emotional trainwreck that feminist writers try to feed us with.

> if you want male soldiers
Meant to say female
Freudian slip.

Very tough call with that constraint. What is best in Trek anyway? I'd probably go back to Data's Day for my enjoyment, but Our Man Bashir was funnier overall. Little Green Men was fun. Ferengi episodes are almost always a good time. VOY did have False Profits and that wasn't EMH heavy. TOS you've got Tribbles naturally. I'm struggling to think of a good ENT one...

Teen Picard whiny voice and punchable face.

She seemed a little too gung-ho for me, but I guess that was to make her interesting without having a backstory and serve as a foil for Lorca & Mike. I'd still do her before Michael because she doesn't look like she has bad gas at a funeral every time she's trying to emote.

Forgot Uhura

It's just a flu VF, time to go back to work.

1. Hoshi Sato
2. Nyota Uhura (Kelvin timeline)
3. B'Elanna Torres
4. Nyota Uhura (TOS)
5. Michael Burnham
6. Philippa Georgiou
7. Guinan
8. Raffi Musiker

Kids today.

>Like they should be written if you want male soldiers in your fiction.
That's one of the things I hated about the character of Ash Tyler. Forget about the twists and what he ended up being. But, they talk him up as a tough soldier when he's first introduced. But, he only ever acts like a weepy sensitive pretty boy. He might've turned out OK if he was a stoic brute. A dude who is stone-faced and 'yes, sir' obedient in public. But PTSD nightmares when he's alone. Although, maybe they were scared of hinting too much at their dumb reveal to have a brutish tough-guy.

Yeah, I did forget.

AND THEY'RE NOT GONNA HOLD ME DOWN NO MORE.
NO THEY'RE NOT GONNA HOLD ME DOWN.

> A dude who is stone-faced and 'yes, sir' obedient in public.
A guy like that would go unnoticed by zoomer audience. These days if you want a tough guy, he should act like a psychopath. With sensitive feminine side if you also want him to be a good guy.

I love that the captain of a spaceship has never heard of a black hole

If you look at that from a in-universe perspective, it is so weird that he has never heard of black hole.

I presume the out-of-universe explanation is that at the time of the comic black holes were not well known within the public.

I hate how they changed that song to that inferior version starting in Season 3.

>These days if you want a tough guy, he should act like a psychopath. With sensitive feminine side if you also want him to be a good guy
You realize you're describing John Rambo, right? Don't think it's a Zoomer thing. Sorry Boomer.

A little psychopathy is OK. I want a Speirs type of tough-guy in Trek. A deputy to the security chief.

youtu.be/TXR-s4EKRTg

At 4:20, 'Speirs, go relieve Dyke'. Then, with no hesitation, he does it. And, he may or may not murder some people who had it coming.

>6. Raffi Musiker
Musiker? That's her name? That's A name?

It looks/sounds like it is the Dutch or German for musician. Whether or not it is and whether or not it is actually a surname...?

>No Uhura
Dude fuck you

Apparently it is a surname:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Musiker
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Musiker

And according to Google Translate 'musician' is 'musiker' (masculine) in German and 'musiker' in Norwegian.

Comic is probably from 70's by the looks, so you're right that's not something the writer would assume the reader of a comic knows about. The average person still wasn't sure if sound carried in the vacuum of space. Although there are less awkward ways to give exposition than making the captain look dumb.

this scene is pretty dumb, it plays like a video game

In Measure of a Man, is Picard stupid? All the most important realisations of the story come out of Picard having others think it through for him.

In-universe it would make sense if they were discussing people and the captain assumed the Black Hole is a nickname. Especially if it is in bold with quotation marks.

-Have you ever heard of "50 Cent", captain?

Doesn't mean that he asks about ancient Earth currency.

That term wasn't in common parlance anymore. Decker had to tell the crew about it in TMP "what they used to call a black hole." I believe they use the term "quantum singularity" to refer to the same phenomenon.

I consider it a shame T'Pol never embraced becoming a cuckquean who enjoyed the idea and act of watching Trip have sex with Amanda Cole.

Just Googled "spock black hole comic" and the first thing on Images to come up is the response.

He's working through a complicated issue by listening to other people who may give him insight, and therefore get to a solution. That's leadership 101. It's also how the audience follows along by proxy. What was he supposed to do? Rip his shirt and roll around until credits roll? Ignore everyone and just fart out an idea from his gut?

What do you think of the decon idea in Enterprise, beyond fan service.

>beyond fan service.
that's all it really is though, even if such a process was necessary on a lower tech ship, is it necessary for us to see it?

I don't agree. I think it's good. Obviously, it's a bit Action Man-y and time has been condensed. But, that's standard movie stuff. Maybe it's a chicken or the egg type thing for you. Stylistically, Band of Brothers used the same techniques and aesthetics as Saving Private Ryan. Hand-held and lens-flare (but used modestly, not retardedly like DISCO). If you ever played early Medal of Honour or Call of Duty games. You'd know those games were very clearly inspired by Saving Private Ryan. And those games went to to be influential to games going forward. So maybe it's not that it's like a video game, but that video games are like Band of Brothers.

Attached: Saving-Private-Ryan2.jpg (1280x720, 790.43K)

I, for one, am not complaining.

The idea of decon and isolation made a lot of sense since alien planets with any life could mean unprecedented bio threats. Having people who may not all be infected in a tiny room rubbing lotion on each other makes a lot less sense. If any of them were clear before, they won't be after the fan service.

My problem is, it's not nearly that complicated.
>we're unsure whether or not Mr. Data constitutes a self aware, conscious entity
>therefore the moral thing to do is to err on the side of caution and not treat him and his potential mass produced copies like mindless objects

Who's the Lieutenant Speirs of Star Trek?

It kind of does make sense if you consider a Vulcan probably wouldn't be able to satisfy a feisty Florida man like Trip all the time. Once every 7 years ain't gonna cut it. Gotta outsource that.

>What was he supposed to do? Rip his shirt and roll around until credits roll? Ignore everyone and just fart out an idea from his gut?
That's what Kirk would have done...

Goddamn Hoshi
