About 50%.
The broad strokes are pretty accurate, as in the accident and the clean up aspects, but most of the inter personal and thriller aspects of it is completely bogus and just there for drama.
They also made up alot of things to drive home certain ideas and doctrines of soviet ukraine.
It's an american show, what did you expect?

A lot of the science employed is bullshit and one character in particular is completely out of place as an expository Mary Sue but the acting and atmosphere is really good. It also leans very heavily on the 'science good politicians bad' theme to the point of cartoonishness at times.
Definitely worth a watch in my opinion but don't take it as an accurate representation of the events and people involved.

My main complaint with this show is they spend too much time on dumb shit, and breeze right through other.
Like, they spent what, a whole episode about killing the heckin pupperinos, but 10 minutes on the miners? And they don't even show the end of the miners building the tunnel, like they just imply it off screen. Like fuck off I was enjoying the tunneling and the other things like clearing the roof but WHOOOOOOP show the first 5 minutes of it then never come back to it.
