I don't like the Truman Show. I had to watch it in school, never liked Jim Carrey nor found him funny, and found the premise to be an inelegant and overly literal way to explore ideas about voyeurism and mass media.

It's not a comedy, but it's an entertaining movie throughout. It's a poignant satire that's easy to grasp and get invested in. People oversell it's "deepness" and though there is some thematic depth to speak of (religious themes, media satire, the idea of a "true world" etc.), it's not the focus. The focus is Truman losing his mind and going bonkers while figuring out that his whole life was fake. Not a huge fan of Carrey either, but he fucking nailed this role
