Someone took a comic book famous for its bucking of standard story beats, deep philosophical themes on the nature of causality and free will, and a villain who was too intelligent to simply hit to defeat and heroes who may have caused more damage had they actually been able to stop the plan in question, leaving it up to the reader to decide who was right and which of the multi-character spectrum they fell closest to.

Then they fucked it up because they're pretty fucking stupid and basic moral questions are too much for the dumb liberal audience they're pandering to. Even if they'd wanted to be better, they simply couldn't handle it, so they dumbed it down as far as possible and hoped you'd clap. Did you clap when they beat up the racists? Hope so.

They said to themselves "We need the imagery of a black Dr. Manhattan eviscerating white supremacists with his superpowers" and everything else was written around getting to this point. They even had Sister Night talk out her experiences in the coma so they could give Laurie an express pass to the end of the plot.

The Careless Whisper covers and Looking Glass episode were kino. Literally 2 good episodes in the entire show. 5/10 overall at best.

I stopped being mad about it about a week after it was finished when it clicked that the writer just plain was too stupid to handle it. He couldn't, no matter how much lip service he paid in that sillyass letter, he just plain couldn't handle basic not quite good or bad questions and folded, and some idiots actually try to say its smart. As a fan of the comic the only thing that bothered me was when they arrested Ozymandias, perhaps having less of a focus on black people in the beginning wouldn't have turned people away from the series?

I guess it's a reflection of our own state of discourse online. Everything is black and white, good vs evil.
