Was this the last soulful thing Disney has ever produced?
That's the entrance. They are getting rid of those ugly fucking monoliths.
You mean 'Escape from tomorrow' the most backwards and weird movie ever secretely shot in Disney? youtube.com
>wasting time at Epcot
The world showcase isn't good and neither are the rides.

absolute worst taste
you're probably a galaxy's edge kiddie
He's right. EPCOT is an open air theme mall for drunks
There's more to the parks than sipping beers and pretending like you're travelling the world you retarded boomers.
And?
here's your director bro
Epcot was intended to be super inspirational
World Showcase was to show you how cool the world and its cultures are
Future World was supposed to inspire you to build a better future, showcasing the wonders of technology of today and on the horizon. Imagination, on the other hand, shows an essential step in the process of any artistic or scientific endeavour.
Nowadays they're making it more "HURR CHARACTER I KNOW I CLAPPED WHEN I SAW THE THING I KNOW." It's really a bummer.
The park's not shot, yet. Even the update has some glimmer of hope in some of the attractions (although the Play Pavilion seems to be edging into Imagination's original intent). I do not have confidence Epcot Center's vision will survive under the current course (started by Iger and continued by Chapek), however
No it wasn't. Epcot was supposed to be a city of tomorrow and the showcase of the Future and world is what they had to settle on when Walt died and his vision fell through
That's why I said Epcot Center (the park)
E.P.C.O.T. (Walt's community) is a totally separate idea
Ok retard
>not drinking around the world
imagine what epcot would be like now if they actually gone through with the community plan. what would it be like living there in 2020, a vassal of the disney corporation?
>Epcot Center: stars a host of new and original characters and attractions mostly unconnected to existing Disney IPs. Figment, for one, endures to this day as an icon of Epcot
>Upcoming Epcot: dominated by existing and acquired IPs, most of which are overruling the old rides and characters (GotG has replaced Universe of Energy and Ellen's Energy Adventure; Play Pavilion took over Wonders of Life and prominently includes all sorts of Disney IPs from DuckTales, Wreck it Ralph, the Incredibles, and Zootopia; The Living Seas is now Nemo & Friends; Three Caballeros has replaced Rio del Tiempo; France is getting a Ratatouille attraction and has existing Beauty and the Beast stuff; UK is getting a Mary Poppins attraction; Frozen has replaced Maelstrom)
maelstom was a big loss. i wish they had a separate park for retired rides they could just move the machinery too
In Maelstrom's case they did not alter the track layout or many of the ride's effects. They just removed the old animatronics and set dressings and replaced them with Frozen ones
Fun fact: Elsa now occupies one of the troll scenes
I'm not denying that it's happening, I just don't think it's as horrible of a change as you are implying.
Believe it or not, a lot of kids found old Epcot BORING. I'm not saying that they should go all out, but as long as the original spirit of the park stays, I have no problem with Disney using Nemo to teach children about aquatic life, while the old Seas pavilion would have never gotten the attention it does after the change.
I mean, the second of Marvel's Figment minis was all about "Figment and Dreamfinder find themselves having to adapt to the modern world after being sent a century forward in time in a metaphorical story asking the question of whether they could still be relevant in a modern Epcot".
>I have no problem with Disney using Nemo to teach children about aquatic life, while the old Seas pavilion would have never gotten the attention it does after the change.
I can agree to this. I think the new stuff they revealed is a mixed bag, but some of it has some good ideas. Play Pavilion can go either way, but I do like the Moana Water Conservation idea. I think Three Caballeros is a worthy successor to Rio del Tiempo (ESPECIALLY with the animatronics), even if I enjoyed the latter. I am less sold on the Mary Poppins and Ratatouille attractions, and I despise Frozen Ever After not just for replacing Maelstrom but because it's really an empty attraction that has no narrative unlike other dark rides and it's just a collection of Frozen setpieces.
I really want them to bring back Journey into Imagination as much as they can with the altered track layout
Original Seas's problem was that they scaled the dark ride portion down to the point of irrelevancy. Original concept was Poseidon taking you on a journey through the ocean and history of maritime exploration before you enter the tank, but like all things, finding sponsors was hard and United Technologies wasn't interested in doing that whole thing.
Exactly. The point of Epcot was to teach, not to be the anti-IP park. Using established characters to drive the teaching further to kids is in no way a bad thing
Vista Way. Home.
To be honest they'd be much better off building a new Journey Into Imagination at this point. Make it a trackless rude and do something similar to the new Mickey Ride which looks great.
Totally nix anything that has to do with the Honey I Shrunk the kids though. That all feels incredibly dated now.
If Celebration, Florida is anything to go by, it would have been dead in the water.
>Back! Back, over the falls!

Bump
Lost my virginity there. Even the most autismo guy can get laid there.
EPCOT is fatty central during the various food tests, it's pretty funny
fuck I need to get my brother in law there. Do they let 25 year old sperg lords do the program there?
You can be any age as long as you are enrolled in college, or graduated within the past year

Entering this room knowing nothing about the ride was a fucking trip. I was so fucking confused
Did some writer at Bungie get high and suddenly have a flash of inspiration for the basis of the hit videogame Destiny?
Is it kino?

The ULTIMATE pleb filter
>hijack a native's mind so you can experience one of their most sacred rituals
Disney is fucking nuts
Well, it did filter that one employee
Went to Epcot few months back for the food and wine fest. Had a grand worth in Disney gift cards so I got hammered and stuffed my fat face and went on mission space. Shit was wild.
In the Japan area some balding white weeb bowed to the jap guy serving him beer saying "arigato senpai" I about lost my shit.
10/10 time
It's always a blast to go to the Japan pavilion and just... Observe
The Haunted Mansion scene is the best part of the movie.
>continues to invite strangers into daughter's bedroom
/ourguy/
The drinking tour is fucking awesome, and the Mexico pavilion has some seriously good tequila
I'll have to do that next time
That was America Sings at Disneyland (which rotated counter-clockwise). The CoP has a zero body count.
The shop they have there is probably the best in the park. Also the fact that theres a Wig of Rei from NGE in a Disney park was fucking surreal
When I visited Disneyworld as a wee lad in the early 00s, Epcot was unironically my favorite. Mission Mars was fucking kino as fuck, and the Worlds pavillion was fun too because I was geography autist as a kid.
I never understood the hate for Epcot.
>Disneyworld
>Mission Mars
>Worlds pavillion
i am glad i experienced spaceship earth before they put touchscreens in. i love that ride, it reminded me of the civilization games, its amazing to think about how far we've come in the small time we've been on this planet. weird to think that technology today makes the 'future tech' at the end of the ride look kind of old now.
youtube.com
how can anyone hate this ride? its sherman brothers kino
I remember liking Animal Kingdom the best
>old maelstrom ride
>learn about norway and have fun along the way
>new frozen ride
