”A relatively small amount, 6 million”
Where's the webcam? How can he see anyone in the room?
Its a pre recorded video
It’s not, he gets scared when Joe Kerr announces that batman will make him a sequel
When I rewatched this I genuinely laughed at this scene. What the fuck Nolan?
No it wasn't. He has a conversation with them, sees the Jorker come in and shuts off the camera when the Jorker says he's a squealer.
Back to leftypol
>his CRT didn't have a webcam
Oh I never realized there wasn’t a webcam before.
Weird shit.
On the topic of weird scenes
What was the point in all the scenes where they discuss names?
>I’m not Amon Sterr
>I’m not Aaron Hakeypanz
>I guess joe Kerr told you to kill me, no no no I kill Debus Ryver
That's because it literally was a pre-recorded video, but it was treated like it was live.
The same thing happens in Jurassic Park where Nedry is "talking" to a Quicktime movie clip.
See
Man, when I was 14 I thought this movie was the tightest shit.
But watching this scene now It kind of looks like just shit. Why is everyones' acting in this scene so awful?
Just because you have a seek bar doesnt mean you can't be streaming live
Is Joe Kerr related to the Warriors coach?
And what is his relation to Nick Kerr
Same thing happened to Batman 1989. Loved it when I was a teenager, now it’s shit. Same deal with TDK.
Batman movies are products of their time.
>Aaron Hakeypanz
When was he mentioned? Also do you remember when they introduced Dunn Hier?
You mean Nolan either didn't care or didn't know that you need a camera to actually video chat with people live?
Fucked that up.
See I still think it's good. The Chinaman is a bit stiff but that's his character. The movie still holds up to me, if you can accept the basic superhero conceits.
they filmed for 2 weeks before the cameras even arrived on set, nolan just directed everyone and forced them to act as he was pointing his fingers everywhere and looking at them. he kept tapping his forehead and saying it's all stored up here baby. woo!
6 million is an absurdly high number though.
Like comically high. Are we really supposed to believe that 6 million can just vanish and they would have zero evidence on where the money went?
Get real Nolan
You can't film without a camera you idiot. Don't tell me you believe these reddit sob stories.
I heard they hid the money behind wooden doors. Just vanished.
>And how could you possibly go through 6 million in that amount of time
>No one can know but me
Even if you spent 500 dollars per day, how could you spend 6 million over 4 months while fighting two fronts?, batman and the mob. Seems unrealistic honestly.
It almost like Nolan doesn't really give a shit. He's only interested in shot composition and IMAX cameras. That Tenet prologue... Jesus Christ what an incomprehensible confusing mess.
source?
TDK is very overrated. Glaring issues too like what happens in Bruce's penthouse after he dives out the window to save Rachel? Joker is still up there, someone has probably phoned the police, Batman is still there so he can help out and end things before they get out of control.
>How about a magic trick? I'm going to make Elie Wisel disappear
CIA was called in and he saved everyone. The Joker got scared and ran away.
he just pre-recorded it knowing the joker would come in
>Glaring issues too like what happens in Bruce's penthouse after he dives out the window to save Rachel?
That one's weird. It could've been fixed in three shots
>Rachel and Bruce getting off the crumpled car seeing police and swat arriving at the penthouse building
>the Joker seeing the police cars arriving from the broken window and telling his goons that they're leaving
>a shot of Joker and the goons leaving though an emergency exit into some surreptitious getaway vehicle
>"I know carcuration"
TDKR is honestly the best film out of the trilogy. Hear me out, yes the action set pieces are weak but the philosophy of the film is actually very compelling. The dance between bruce and selina comes to mind. Bane's speech both times, in fact hardy did a very good job with him. TDK has some scenes like this but I like rises as a whole more. The lazarus pit is a wonderful scene and truly captures the essence of batman but more importantly serves as a metaphor for rising or us all being trapped in a prison that few escape. We love to see people rise and that film captures that feeling beautifully.

When fake Batman asks what gives him the right he responds with that, maybe he’s suggesting that fake Batman is Aaron
What did Nolan mean by this?
I agree that the themes are stronger and more poignant in TDKR than in the previous two films, but the parts you bring up and sort of dismiss are what drag it down to a middling-mediocre big budget bonanza. Plus that scene where a young Thalia escapes the pit is fucking ridiculous.
It just sucks that Nolan had to get lazy and make the action so bad and the final action set piece with unarmed cops charging mercenaries with batmobiles and assault rifles is just insane as hell. Nothing in that last 15 minutes makes sense. The ending is good though.
Talia escaping the pit is a kinda silly but I think she could escape because she was still innocent, she was not fearful of the jump and succeeds for the same reason that Bruce does. The spirit of man rising from the lazarus pit is a poignant metaphor but yes the rest of the film is mediocre as fuck. I guess I look back on rises fondly because even with all it's faults it has thought behind it. I like Bane more than Joker for this reason.
I really like TDKR. The pit as a narrative device, Bruce's development, BANE?, the visuals, the plane scene (as an action setpiece) are all memorable and creative. I even like the twist with Talia Al Ghul. I saw it coming, and every scene with Cotillard after the reveal including the reveal itself is cringeworthy, but the way it ties back into Batman Begins is good, and I really like the Bane/Talia relationship, even though we mostly just get the idea of it. I appreciate Nolan's intention of capturing the feeling of scale of older epic movies, that's been lost with Marvel and Star Wars.
>And I thought my hoaxes were bad.
underrated
>What was the point in all the scenes where they discuss names?
Nolan's clutch. His feeble attempt at 'world-building' consists solely of name-dropping signficant characters with implied histories without ever showing these characters.
>Talia escaping the pit is a kinda silly but I think she could escape because she was still innocent, she was not fearful of the jump and succeeds for the same reason that Bruce does
I'm glad you can see it that way because I cannot divorce from reality the strength it would take for a little girl to leap across the gap and then hoist herself up after gravity was clawing for her to fall on said jump.
>I'm Ian Charj
>Do you feel, Ian Charj?
I really felt this scene, chilling.
How sad is it to be you?
>Batman 89 is shit
You’re shit.
All of you're upset you aren't spoonfed every irrelevant information. Go through any movie(like the Jurassic park example) you can find minor inconsistencies.
This is more mindnumbing than plot-hole criticisms. I mean do you honestly want to be shown Joker taking the elevator or the exact place where they placed the camera for the joint meeting?
Less characters and subplots would have made for a more focused movie. TDKR is a mess with a few good/great scenes.
I agree, but the strengths of the film are really really strong. But so are the weaknesses. I just like the film more for that reason, it resonates better with me at least.
a biting commentary on billionaires and their inability to care about anyone else perfectly slipped into a scene
Why was it on a CRT?
>if I ignore the mass graves and pits of cremated remains they aren't real so there's no evidence
I'm not upset, I just think it's weird and could've been very easily corrected. Harvey was still in the penthouse, all that needed to happen was for one of the goons to notice the cupboard door in the right next to the the reception room they were all in, that was very obviously barred from the outside, or for Harvey to wake up and start banging on the door, and he would've got got.
dude, why are you bringing up the Holocaust in TDK thread?
2008
Fuck off JIDF, everyone else was happy to ignore them and talk about Batman until you came.
they had plasma back then. was the mob broke? was the crt supposed to set some sort of mood? i remember seeing this in theaters and having a sensible chuckle when that grainy crt image appeared
user we are talking about batman, what the fuck is wrong with you? Go away schizo.
10 million chinks = 100 real people
prove me wrong
>Where's the webcam? How can he see anyone in the room?
Could just be audio. Assume that there's a mic somewhere off screen.
so where did the pencil go, anyway?
i know the joker was a really good illusionist but there still has to be a logical explanation
>chink is good at math
Uhhh Nolan???
