This could be asked about movies in general, and the answer would always be because females are less aggressive or intimidating than men, it's a lot more difficult to make a convincing antagonist in a movie than a videogame

The window of time for it being written as credible and interesting was extremely narrow.

Pre-2000 was still grounded on monomyth culture. Women in these stories were support roles, prophets or family. Not esteemed fighters (though there were exceptions)

Turn of the century was limiting since so much content was focused on the Clone Wars, Droids or aliens are cooler enemies than humans. Having said that Ventress is iconic, though I wonder how much of that is because she's a fleshed out character amid a sea of droids and men, she got more attention

Phasma is a villain thats trying to hard to look menacing without doing anything to follow through on that.
Making a brown woman irredeemably evil was likely vetoed and whoever was fighting Trilla's corner probably had to actively fight for her being empowering and tragic figure first and foremost.

I always assumed it was more of an hardware limitation than anything in fallen order the killing animations are terrible, you basically touch stormtroopers with the top of the lightsaber and they fall down dead, while monsters get dismembering animations just fine.

Monsters dismemberment is stock. They always cut the same and every other time, so even then it's not on the level of Jedi Outcast with real_saber 1 or whatever it was enabled.

One of the turn offs for me was the inability to slice people in half, but thinking back upon it now, I'm okay with it.

I don't know, because of in-game lighting and lighting during face scans and the fact they probably used some lower rent tech than say, Kojima with his Death Stranding quality.

The only other game I can think of that has scans close to the actors is Detroit Become Human, every other one fudges it somehow.

That's not really shocking when you consider how far star wars games fell off a cliff starting around 2006. Star Wars Kinect was a thing, user, and it was fucking horrible. EA isn't the only offender on the shitty Star Wars games front, even though their propensity for buying out the rights to make desirable games and then putting in 0 effort to make those games actually good is objectively bad for the consumer.
