They wear robes because they’re literally supposed to be warrior monks, it’s why Vader looks like a space samurai. Luke is different because he’s not a monk in e6 he’s a warrior, he adopts the monk look later, anakin too wears slightly more combat lookey clothing

He could not get the film rights to Flash or Buck so he mixed the Mythic Cycle themes of Joseph Campbell, the pulp sfi fi serials of his youth and Samurai, the first script was spaced version of Kurosawa's Hidden Fortress right down to the princess hand maiden switcharoo

The test costume for Vader was a Motorcycle leather jumpsuit, a WW1 German helmet and a monks robe. The final Vader helmet was styled slightly more like a Japanese Kabuta helmet and made from or covered in Lacquered leather as were Kabuta

I'm just glad they have separate outfits for missions and temple-life. This is supposed to be during their highest power and most peace so who knows.

The sleeves actually got inthr way, Watch anime and samurai movies and the women tie the sleeves up when they work and then men when they think they are about to get in a fight. In I think Yojimbo or the second one, all the young samurai keep tying up their sleeves when there is a noise outside and then are disappointed when it is nothing

Like another user already said, I feel like their robes are general clothing and that they have no issue with changing clothes depending on where they're going and what they're doing.

I think this might have been better conveyed had the Jedi on Geonosis not been in their robes though. In ROTS, I wish they had their Clone Wars outfits, but at the very least Anakin always looks reasonably dressed for combat.

Anyone who looked at the TFA Art book knows that there were loads of concept art made for that movie that looked amazing but ultimately 99% of it was discarded in favor of everything boring.
Same thing is going to happen for High Republic. Don't even count on the cool concepts they showcased in that video to make it in the movie.

thats just how concept art works. the concept artist creates extreme depictions that they know the studio will not approve, then they strip it down to get what they originally wanted in the first place.
its the same concept as when you fill your movie with extreme gore that you know they will want you to cut out, so then you are able to keep in the less edgy stuff that you wanted in the first place as a "compromise".
not defending this shit movie, that's just the reality of the industry
