I watched Mandy with my girlfriend for the first time on xtc. We geeked the fuck out all hootin and hollerin and shit, loved it, had to pause a bunch of times when we would accidentally start conversations. It was a great time, tooks probably 3 and a half hours to watch the whole thing. You're a bitch, we would've had just as much fun and enjoyed the movie the same on acid, it would've taken closer to 5 hours to get through it all though.

Unironically watch Tron + Legacy double feature or just Legacy. Kevin Flynn is God of the digital frontier, Sam is Jesus, Tron fights for the user (us) to protect free information. Clu and Encom represent big business supressing information in the digital age. That plus mind melting visuals that are competently shot. Its difficult to put into words how poiniant these movies are with the music and everything while tripping.

it's a movie about a 17th century sorcerer using hallucinogenic mushrooms and trickery/magick to force peasants to search for a treasure in a field. it's very contained (there's like 6 people total in the movie) and the trippy visuals are used to show what the characters are going through as they get more and more mindfucked and delirious. its worth watching for its setting and unique take on grounded magick alone

I enjoyed it more after I quit weed and psychedelics. It actually paints psychedelics with a disorienting and evil light which is refreshing after psychedelics in film has always been the "DUDE TRIPPY" representation you describe. It really captures the discomfort and confusion psychedelics can cause.

skip the movie and watch the anime series Flip Flappers.

As if the movie is saying no matter our boundry, humanity seeks to expand or wonder if there's more to life. Which is fitting because the grid is called a "digital frontier", the final frontier second only to space. Clu compiling and repurposing programs in an endless loop also serves as a metaphor for how junk data compiles online, endlessly and unfiltered. So these are the kind of thoughts I had tripping watching it, I highly reccomend.
