Killing Terry started everything though and robbing the Armenians made their situation worse

But Terry was literally a fed rat. He got what he deserved.

Nothing wrong? Killed a cop in the first episode, starting the pile of shit that followed

He screwed ronnie over

All he had to do was tell Terry he knew he was working with the feds and his name would be mud unless he quit. It was done for purely tv reasons. People like to talk about the ending, but the pilot episode hook was the fucking best I've ever seen, it was mind blowing when it first aired.

I'm on season 5 now. Fucking love this show.

JUST ANOTHER SHANE

Nah, rats belong below ground. What was Aceveda going to do, confess to the whole Barn that he had fed plants in the force?

Why are you here? You just want it spoiled?

He peed all over them.

PISSING HE'S PISSING ALL OVER US! WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE? BECAUSE IT TASTES LIKE PISS TO ME!

>PREVIOUSLY ON THE SHIELD

*gets unironically cucked*

Reminder that Shane did literally nothing wrong. Everything he did was something Vic would have eventually done

*kills Lem*

Deserved it desu.
Should've just went to Mexico like he was told

But he literally was going into Mexico?!?!

>it's a "some low-level shithead makes Vic run" episode

Unironically why was Aceveda so mad at Vic when he was literally making precinct safe?

gun to his head
rather than stand up like a man to his attackers
he takes a man's dick in his mouth
don't think that would play too well with the voters

I haven't read anything. Just wanted to post that.

yeppers. shane was right: "goddamn hypocrite"

He progressively dug him and his team into this biggest hole of shit that became impossible to escape by the end of S3. His team only followed his lead.

He hated Vic's autonomy more than anything else.

Vic has such a distict "I'm an asshole" style of running when he chases people I love it

kek assaveda got no sympathy from anyone for getting raped, not even his wife

Why doesn't he get roles anymore? The Shield was pretty big after all. Like the tier below most HBO shows.

did anyone else jerk it to this scene?

it was better than most HBO shows but never got really popular. a show like this simply didn't have mass appeal. it doesn't appeal to most viewers and frankly most wouldn't watch it just cause they think chiklis looks weird

Shane was always fucking up

Vic Mackey would have saved Gabriel Fernandez.

Chiklis is super picky about the roles he takes, because early in his career he lucked up in landing the lead role on "The Commish".

The Commish was a huge hit and ran like 6-7 seasons. But it created a major nightmare for Chiklis in that it pretty much typecasted him as a "stern but lovable father figure" type actor.

This led to him having problems finding work and the huge public humiliation of "Daddio", which flopped so badly that Chiklis was DESPERATE for a role that would let him show off his range as an actor and let him break out of the typecasting cage he was trapped in.

The Shield allowed Chiklis to reinvent himself and these days, he's way more selective on the roles he takes. And he invested his money from his career wisely, so he doesn't have to take crappy roles to make ends meet.

what about the team Vic? IT WAS ABOUT PROTECTING THE TEAM

Good point.

Worst case scenario is that Ronnie's homolust for Vic, as in the case of Lem and his homolust for Vic, was his downfall.

But it should be noted that Ronnie was supposed to die a hero's death saving Vic from the Mexican Mafia boss when Vic took him down under the original plan for S7. Shane was supposed to be the one arrested and found out that Vic betrayed him. But scheduling issues and actors not being available, resulted in S7 having to be rewritten from scratch and having lost a planned origin episode for Ronnie (where he would turn out to be bisexual); they gave his actor Shane's planned ending to make up for losing his big episode. Which meant that the character got the bad ending.

Pre-Copilot retcon: Acaveda was newly promoted police Captain at his first posting and Vic was a guy who had been in Farmington for years, and basically acted like he owned the place due to his seniority and success rate with the Strike Team making big arrests. As such, Acaveda hated Vic because Vic flaunted his authority every chance he got because Acaveda was the new guy making Vic's life complicated by making him follow standard procedures as opposed to Vic doing whatever he felt like. The fact that Vic was corrupt only made things worse, because Acaveda knew that Vic's inevitable downfall would taint his own career ambitions if he didn't nip him the bud ASAP so he could say that "yes, Vic was corrupt and under my command but I got rid of him as fast I as I could once I found out that he was corrupt".

Co-Pilot retconned shit so that the Farmington District was a newly created district in LA and that everyone arrived at the same time. And that Vic and Acaveda were friends at first, but Acaveda was put under pressure to produce instant results in the crime filled district which strained the relationship between the two as Vic was being pressured to make arrests ASAP and Vic being terrified that Terry was added to the team to be his replacement if he didn't make those big arrests. As opposed to the Strike Team having existed for ages and Terry being a literal new guy on the team, as opposed to him joining about 2-3 days into the team's existence.

what the fuck Ronnie was not gay, he was smart and loyal and thought him and mackie were on the same page, take your homo shit and fuck off

He’s getting old!!! We need the shield movie we’re Vic rescues Ronnie

>t. Ronnie

>It’s a rapist raping wives and calling her husband and telling him how she likes getting fuck up the ass by another man episode

>Killing cops
>Bad

Imagine praising a series with such a huge retcon

Shane's ultimate flaw was that he didn't get the fuck out of dodge at the end of season 3 with Mara.

Shane should have severed all ties with Vic and LA in general at the end of S3; take his cut of the Money Train heist to leave California and find some sleeping ass town in the middle of nowhere to raise the kid him and Mara were going to have.

Assuming Shane's record was spotless at the time, he would have no problem whatsoever finding a new law enforcement job. Moreso, working on an anti-gang task force would help him get a gig on other one if he tried.

Mara was a real estate agent IIRC so she'd still be able to find work in the middle of the housing boom. Worse case scenario, they might struggle for a couple of years but even that would be mitigated by their illegal nest egg cushioning their early years.

Even still, Shane could have resisted the darker impulses and stop being a crooked cop. And Mara could have helped, since she was fully aware of Vic's corrupting influence on Shane.

In short, Shane fucked up because of his homolust for Vic causing him to throw away his one chance to escape and get clear.

He was a gay Mexican threatened by the Ayran Superiority of Vic.

The gay thing was confirmed a while back; Ronnie was going to be gay so that Ryan could salvage Julian's storyline of being "cured" of his homosexuality by having Ronnie rebuke the whole idea by way of saying he was forced into a similar program as a teenager by his parents and it not only failing, but turning Ronnie off of religion all together.

It was supposed to be tied into a plot involving a young Korean man who found out his younger teenage sister was gay and basically "fixing" her by way of locking her up in their family's basement and paying his friends to rape his sister until she became straight. Ronnie and Julian would investigate it, after several episodes of Ronnie treating Julian like shit for being a self-hating closet case bible thumper and during the investigation, Ronnie would come out to Julian after he tells Danny that he thinks Ronnie hates black people.

While the Ronnie/Julian storyline got aborted when season seven had to be rewritten due to actor availability issue/production delays, the rape case plot got used but assigned to Dutch/Billings as a C-Plot.

Shane’s mistake was getting with Mara. She stole money from the money train and fucked everything up

For what it's worth, EVERYONE hates Co-Pilot. It's considered the worst episode of the series by some fans, even moreso than the dead cat episode. Even Shawn Ryan handwaved the episode by claiming they only did it because they were still working on the make-up effects for Ronnie's facial disfigurement and wanted a light weight breather episode after wrapping up the Armadillo arc.

interesting, he was still the 2nd most intelligent member apart from Vic

no dumbass Ronnie gets out may a pleadeal on something idk, and starts to hunt down Vic, maybe his family too

IIRC didn't her stealing it lead to the gang finding out the money was poisoned pilled as far as being half marked so the feds could track it?

On a side note; it reminds me of how TWOP HATED the show and refused to recap it because they were such obnoxious HBO stans and in general, hated FX's guts and with the exception of Rescue Me (which they recapped the first two seasons of), generally refused to recap ANY FX shows because of jealousy over how popular the network was with normies.

ronnie looks weird in this pic

Is the Blu-ray version better than the dvd original? More special features? Also in the dvd original they have scenes were you can see the camera guy and the mic guy

I headcannon that Vic got murdered by the Mexican Mafia after he left ICE headquarters and the Feds had to give Ronnie the original plea deal they gave Vic to salvage the case. Ronnie was given a new name however, given that Claudette had him arrested (making it hard for the Feds) and assigned to the Assistant Attorney General from Sons of Anarchy as his assistant for the run of his three year contract with the feds. And said AGA liked Ronnie enough to convince ICE to keep him around due to him being the only assistant that was willing to put up with said AGA's autism.

The Shield Movie: Ronnie's Reckoning, this time its personal

lol

That's Benito Martinez not David Rees Snell

Ronnie sadly was rarely featured in most publicity photos/material for the show due to the member being considered part of the secondary cast not a main actor on the show. It wasn't until S6 that David Rees Snell got bumped to full cast member/featured in publicity images with the rest of the cast.

The only pieces of early show merch to feature Ronnie prominently was the book's S1 behind the scenes guidebook (Snell is featured in various photographs, several of which were taken from Throwaway, which was the episode from Season one which gave him his most screentime to that date) and the IDW Shield comic, with Ronnie (during the period where he had the mustache) being given his own photo variant cover and featured heavily on both the photo and standard comic cover for the last issue of the series and featured in the book/given dialogue.

Blu-Ray is full of new special features in terms of retrospective documentaries and other series retrospectives bonus featurettes.

Sadly, they didn't redo the commentary tracks for S2 which were a disaster due to the production team deciding to only do commentary tracks for four episodes and on three of the four, talking less about the actual episodes and more about generic "how TV is made" commentary from the writers, producers, and actors.

Television Without Pity....

There's a name I haven't heard in ages.

Hate the smug shit recaps (especially Jacob's recaps where he talked about everything BUT the shows he was recapping). And their policy was super fucking god-awful given how they'd ignore actual popular shows and instead recap reality tv and WB garbage.

At least the message boards were based.

no its ronnie. he just shaved his beard so looks different

What is Television Without Pity?
