>"To avenge my boyfriend, I'll kill his brother"
"To avenge my boyfriend, I'll kill his brother"
Its still shocking how Game of Thrones went from the most popular piece of pop-culture for a decade, to completely irrelevant and forgotten in a week. Will we ever see the like again?
Lost was this but on a smaller scale, everyone talking about, threads on Yas Forums every day, and as soon as it ended everyone forgot about it and moved on
but lost, for all its good moments, was clearly directionless rambling from the start. GoT might've had stupid aspects but it really seemed like it was going somewhere
mass effect
>"To avenge my boyfriend, I'll kill his brother"
In the books, she claims to be wary of war, and makes plans to protect her children - except the plans include sending them into the worst areas to spy on dorans plan.
Let's not forget the X-Files before that. I know some autists out there defend the series finale but everyone else was just like, "yeah, I'm never going to spend another second thinking about this again except to reminisce about how hot Scully was"
Honestly most tv series jump the shark by the end if they're not canceled prematurely. The ones that end perfectly are kind of the exception, and the more convoluted the plot over the years the less chance it wraps up well. You could tell LOST was hopeless after the first season, don't know why anybody actually expected anything besides a magic asspull.
the thing that really made GOT unique was that it was started by following a book series that was well thought out with good characters and plotlines. But they underestimated how long it would take GRRM to finish his books, and once the show started surpassing the books is when it tanked.
Desu it's a great example of how not everybody can be a writer. I'm sure the GOT writers and D&D have some talent, but they completely botched it once they didn't have GRRM's books to guide them anymore.
>DESU
I actually blame Martin more than them. He still can't even figure out how to resolve his own fucking plots, how were two people who never wrote anything like that before supposed to pick up his slack and do better?
I'm convinced he quit in part because he's just lazy and didn't want to to it but also just to avoid having to actually put a definitive ending down on paper because he suspected he was going to blow it. All I know is I'm never buying anything he ever writes again even though I loved the books. You don't just give up like that.
That's what happens when you write a show such that the only reason to watch is to see what happens next. When the audience knows nothing else will happen, they stop giving a fuck. The sad thing about Game of Thrones is that it had potential due to its strong foundation based on actual books, whereas it was always clear that Lost was written one episode at a time without ever thinking more than two hours ahead.
I would say BSG but unforunately its final season just kinda haunted all other space science fiction shows for years after as everyone and their brother tried to copy it.
GoT was just a perfect storm of laziness and idiocy
>fatfuck signing over all film rights to the GoT universe to D&D after blowing smoke up his ass
>Martian just so godamn lazy he still hasn't finished the books
>D&D steadily moving away from Fattys materials into OC donut steel territory as the seasons went higher and higher and their heads got larger and larger
>instead of raising a stink on any terrible idea D&D injected onto the show the only one with the clought to call bullshit being FattyFatty2x4 partied on the checks.
The cast was fantastic and going from most behind the scenes stuff we've ever seen most of those guys that were on set day after day were awesome but Martin being a lazy fucking fucker and D&D being 2 of the dumbest fuckers in the television and film industry were a powerful combination
I'm honestly kind of shocked they just trusted him to finish before they caught up to him. I know he gave them plot outlines to everything and allegedly knew how it ended, but still. Adapting a series that isn't done yet seems like a good way to wind up disappointing people in the end, which is of course exactly what happened.
nah he's a genius, the general consensus is
>man GoT was great but those IDIOT FUCKS at HBO really screwed up, oh well at least we have the books to look forward to
now if only he could write..
I don't have a horse in this race. I don't like GoT at all. But... I suspect that, if anything, the failure of the TV series ending may be the best thing to happen to Martin and enable his ability to finish the novels.
>I suspect that, if anything, the failure of the TV series ending may be the best thing to happen to Martin and enable his ability to finish the novels.
Why would anybody think this? If the show slowly creeping up on him didn't inspire him to move his at ass and finish even one more book, why would he be any more motivated now that the entire fanbase is either pissed or apathetic and a lot of his intended plotlines have been spoiled?
He's spent a decade writing a book that has already been postponed so many times nobody even pretends like there's a release date any more, even though it was allegedly almost done like four years ago. Either he never made much progress despite taking forever, or he's a few chapters away and can't even crawl across the finish line. No way in hell he finishes that book and then at least one more. He's done.
More like
>"I want to avenge my boyfriend but our ruler (coincidently his brother) only wants to make peace and is literally in the process of breaking bread with the family who led to his being killed. 'Unbowed, unbent, unbroken' my ass, looks like ima have to choke a bitch."
He is freed from the expectations of the larger fanbase. The normies of your fandom were quickly burned off. The spotlight exploded and shards of glass sprayed all over the fucking audience. The only people left who give a fuck about A Song of Ice and Fire are the OG fans. He also saw how people responded to his alleged outline for the ending and can make adjustments. Not to say he need to pander...
I dunno. I'm not a very successful writer, but as a "writer" that seems like a situation that would work well for me.
>George has told us how it's going to end and we're heading towards that.
>Let's just cut all these other pov characters from the books. They aren't important in the grand scheme.
Why should I read any more books you write fatman? Victarion doesn't exist so why should I care how the dragonbinder works. Barristan gets stabbed by the brown shits in an alley so who cares how he manages ruling a city.
but Doran isn't like that at all. and the whole season 5 showed how the whole thing of being nice with Jaime was a farce. even telling Areo if he is prepared to use his weapon. not to mention Doran is known for being a careful planner. there is no justification for the dumb bitch. and in the books she is the only non batshit crazy dornish woman who wants to do peace. fuck d&d.
I just finished it and miss it terribly already. Despite writing flaws in the later seasons it's so undeniably immersive and addictive, unlike any other show since Lost or 24, and with much superior production values. There won't be anything quite as ambitious anytime soon.
First of all, those OG fans are the ones he's been blowing off forever so he could work on the show instead. He doesn't give a fuck about them or he'd have at least shat out TWOW by now.
Secondly, he's taken longer and longer between books. First it was two years. Then five, then six, and now the last book came out in 20-fucking-11 and he's still "working on" the next one. So let's assume he actually publishes TWOW sometime next year, which is in itself very, very, unlikely. The next book will be the biggest of all and will probably take him at least as long if not longer, which means the best-case scenario is he finishes it in 2031. 2031! The fat fuck would need to live into his 80's just to have a chance, and that's assuming he can actually work by that point and not just breathe through a tube or whatever.. Not happening. It's not fucking happening. Let it go.
I quit GoT halfway through the first episode and never read a sentence in the books. I was just hypothesizing being in Martin's position.
>didn't like the show
>didn't like the books
>somehow really opinionated in a thread about the books and show he totally didn't like and doesn't care about
to avenge the writing, I'll kill the show
based, but dumb&dumber killed the show
>YES QUEEN SLAAAAY!
Do feminists really find it empowering to slaughter your family?
womanlogic
that's what happens when you don't cater to your fanbase - anime knows this
turns out the got fanbase was all women with tattoos
Actually he quit because dumb and dumber ignored his notes
I honestly think they were wrong about jons true parentage and grrm saw the chance to troll the world.
I know it's along shot but I really hope this series gets finished. Otherwise all I got is headcanon.
The show missed the point how the books were portraying women. It wasn't about female empowerment per se. It was about how flawed and human they can be. It was how they struggled and manuevered under a definite sexist society that value martial strength which women don't have. They had pretty evil moments, selfish moments, moments of good and honor and moments they just had to whore themselves out to survive.
HEY JAIME LETS FIGHT TO THE DEATH FOR LITTLE TO NO REASON
these crazy bitches disown their families over politics, so yes, they probably do
>first person to kill a dragon in centuries
>did it with two impossible shots
>wants to be remembered for killing some dude with one hand
tfw when you fuck the queen
>be a book reader
>start watching GoT
>like it
>starts to go bad around season 5
>season 7 is awful. Never even watched 8.
>realise that the fat man is never going to finish the next ASoIaF book.
>blu-rays of season 1 to 7 of GoT sit on my shelf, mocking me
I get the hate for S5 and 8 but why 7?
>>"To avenge my boyfriend, I'll kill his brother"
They fucked this up because they had to make up their own story here. In the books, Doran's daughter Arianne has a plot to marry Myrcella to another Targaryen that isn't in the show. Also, Doran's other son Quentyn gets dragon roasted in Meereen and this will likely turn Doran Martell against Danaerys. The situation with the Martells is complicated and involves a whole ton of book content cut out of the plot. So the writers, who weren't good, were left sewing the scraps of a story into a new one. Recipe for disaster.
neckfu
Those were some excellent tits though
And my niece.
And my daughters.
>I get the hate for S5 and 8 but why 7?
Season 7 is just as inconsistent, badly written and centered around "moments" as season 8.
I just wish the fat fuck dies to coronavirus. He became blinded by money and got lazy as it flowed. If you checked in his blogs before SINCE 2005 HE HAD BEEN FUCKING UNDERESTIMATING his timeline. And now, 9 years after ADWD still nothing despite MANY FUCKING ASSURANCES THAT IT'S BEING WORKED ON.
>OH IM WORKING ON IT
>HERE MORE WILDCARDS
>YEAH IM TOO BUSY WRITING
>WHOOPS HERE'S AWOIAF
>SOON SOON I AM IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING
>WOOPS HERE'S FIRE AND BLOOD
fuck him. he should die already, such a disgrace to literature.
and this wasn't even close to being the most insufferable part of the episode DESU
jaime x sansa forever
>but why 7?
the trip beyond the wall was worse than anything in season 5 or 8
I literally just had sex and being reminded how bad /got/ was ruined my happy mood
only if they are men. you can't have female empowerment without male depowerment apparently
The final season hype was mostly just really successful marketing, then they fumbled so hard in the endzone that it broke people's engagement.
It was only ever a pretty good show with some moments of greatness that was waning every season.
At least it gave us plenty of fine titties. Especially the brown ones.
they will by the time we're done with this latest abortive attempt at mutual reassurance
no roz, into the trash it goes
>roz, into the trash it goes
look user you were so close
The same women who celebrate murdering their own unborn children and cause family break ups and agony over who voted for what?
Was any character screwed over worse than her? Complete 180 from her book personality.
>I'm sure the GOT writers and D&D have some talent
>Hello, retard department?
>Yep, we've got another one
They're both better than her.
The books are fucking shit as well and the next in the series will only be published when some other faggot genre fiction author hacks something together after fat fuck's death.
