I think it would have basically ended the same way. The sisters were destined to drift apart regardless. Parents seemed on the verge of divorce as well, considering the way they talked to eachother and that they were going to counseling. Of course except for Brigitte actually stabbing Ging literally it would have been more metaphorical, her 'stabbing' Ginger by standing up for herself and moving out of her shadow, possibly together with Sam if they ended up meeting another way. Honestly you could remove all the genre stuff and the film would mostly hold up with some small rewrites.

As far as life 'years later' is concerned. I'd actually love to see a semi-reboot set in the current day with them reprising their roles. They could have Brigitte's child be bitten this time or even someone unrelated, doesn't matter. The together forever pact could actually be played up really nice with the sisters reuniting after not seeing eachother since ~1999.
