I look for a thinny and get out of this world.
Ideologically I gravitate towards Las Vegas more but I'd join the Boulder Free Zone just because I couldn't live in a society with so little personal freedom. I don't want to be watched all the time and thinking twice before I say something
The Stephen King’s Stand?
Bad adaptation. Kino book, happy crappy
>trash can man spotted
Something kind of like that for me. When Flagg gives me nightmares I'm definitely going to avoid him. Kindly old woman is an easy sell for me.
It's been a long time since I've read the book, what was the ideology of the people in Las Vegas? All I can remember about it was that Flagg was a dictator who ruled through fear. I can't imagine anyone wanting to live in a dystopian nightmare city compared to a peaceful united community, and I thought most people who were with Flagg were with him because they thought Boulder didn't stand a chance.
Or maybe King just wanted to blow up people he didn't like, idk. The man is surprisingly preachy sometimes.
The Crimson King is a sucker and a buster, so I stand against his servants on principle.
I want to be one of the people who die.
People went to Flagg because they were afraid of defying him and/or were shitty people repulsed by Mother Abigail. When Trashcan Man dreams of Mother Abigail it is a nightmare where he is one of the rats in the corn. As well, in many of Flagg's dreams to entice people to follow him he promises them things they want. On top of that, Flagg gets Vegas cleaned up, powered, watered, and running a ways before Boulder ever gets its act together. So a lot of people go there for the convenience.
Something I would have liked to see more of in the book is the "Bad" character's dreams. Harold dreams of both Abigail and Flagg, but the only dream of his that gets described on text is a premonition about his death.
>Or maybe King just wanted to blow up people he didn't like, idk. The man is surprisingly preachy sometimes.
Well it's odd. Vegas is actually given little coverage on page in the book, even in the extended version. When we finally do go there King goes out of his way to portray most of the people there as sympathetic, but frightened away from defying Flagg. He starts to introduce and develop all these characters... but then kills them all off a few chapters later. The last time I read the book I had this feeling that maybe originally King intended the book to be a LOT longer, but cut it down in the last act. There are all these visions in the book of Flagg raising an army and burning his way across the US, flattening Boulder. I wonder if originally that was supposed to happen and Flagg's death/expulsion wouldn't come until after that.
with the whites
>I look for a thinny and get out of this world.
Seems pretty risky. A Door would be better.
Barring that
>Boulder Free Zone
>Get a say in your local government
>Relaxed version of preexisting US laws
>Worst punishment is jail or exile
>Worst citizens are disorderly drunks
>Society of the People
>First Citizen Flagg rules on his Chaotic Evil whims
>Laws are "do as Flagg says"
>get crucified on telephone pole if you get out of line
>Best citizens are psychopaths
Think I'll take my chances in Colorado
S-N-E-E-D that spells Sneed
the HD remaster of this was fucking ace
they fixed the framerate of the special effects shots to actually match the film footage and the effects actually look damn good for an early 90s TV series
I'd never heard of the extended uncut book until I looked it up recently. Is it a mess of 'directors cut' added/changed nonsense or is it a better version?
Not only does The Stand always get recommended over it, but we donr even get the real life scenario. No nukes, just coofing.
Man with the crimson eyes>Randell Flagg
Swan prescott>mother abigail
Josh Hutchins>Stu Redman
literally a based retard
I’ll have to think about the direction and wonder why I haven’t before
>There are all these visions in the book of Flagg raising an army and burning his way across the US, flattening Boulder. I wonder if originally that was supposed to happen and Flagg's death/expulsion wouldn't come until after that.
You should re-read the book. Flagg is consumed by a burning desire to destroy everything around him, which is always his undoing because he builds a tower of weapons that ends up faltering and collapsing on itself due to factors that he had been blind to or otherwise disregarded.
Yeah, I agree with that, but I also see in an avenue for the story to have been continued for at least one more "book" before reaching a conclusion. The same effect in the end, but it drawn out more, consuming Flagg at the height of his power and giving the Vegas characters more of a chance to develop and grow.
Yeah I'd be down for that
Honestly the worst thing about DT7 was how the did my boy Walter so dirty. Went out like chump just to job for the Crimson Prince.
Definitely wouldn't mind a whole story just about Flagg kicking around.
He was based
>SEASONS DON'T FEAR THE REAPER
>NEITHER DO THE WIND, THE SUN, OR THE RAIN
>(we can be like they are)
I wouldnt join anyone I would roam around in a comfy open landscape
>gets eaten by wolves
Just get guns, retard
>gets killed by flagg for your guns
Harold is literally me so I’ll side with Flagg
Women aren't cookies user
Harold had some top-tier fetishes though
He got the goth big tiddy gf too
Only in the mouth and butt though
To find Vegas without gps, just follow the hundreds of people crucified on telephone poles.
I'd like to think I'd join Mother Abigail but like Harold I'm a fucking loser and no one likes me. So I'd wind up at Vegas sitting alone in my room where all the shitty people and hedonists are out, terrified of Flagg's wrath.
I bet you faggots have never read the original 1978 edition before King went full retard and added hundreds of pages of nonsense back into it.
Its America there are weapons everywhere
I don’t get why people disliked the ending I thought it was cool
>goes back and adds 50s greasers getting gay handjobs
ahhh that's better
I watched this last fall on Jewtube while I was waiting for a plumber to show up who never came.
GOTTDAMN that chick who played Nadine got me frisky. I had to unironically COOM
There was once a noble, valiant, Coors-loving man who thought as you did.
But did you ever get your plumbing fixed?
Read it in grade school in the late 80s, nerd.
Oh I got the plumbing to work alright
My COOM plumbing xD
>I did actually but I had to take a second day off work.
Harold is like the best depiction of the Yas Forums male of all time. Prophetic, really.
why do people dislike the ending I thought it was cool
People liked Harold.
He literally became an Alpha Chad HERO with a badass nickname but he was too up his own ass to realize it.
Don’t be like Harold. Give yourself a chance.
>build up this dark malevolent force of a man over the full series and many other book tie ins
>eaten by a fucking baby spider
>That's the way she goes, boy. Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't cause that's the fucking way she goes
Which one has the cutest and funniest girls?
>Vegas
>anywhere in colorado
The people at Vegas started to desert Flagg when he went crazy.
Vegas had the fifteen year old slut who fucked the deaf guy within ten minutes of meeting him.
Colorado probably has all women of character plus Nadine
That's enough
DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO
DIDDLY DOOOOOOOO
DWAAANNNNGGGGG
REEERREEEENNNNNNNN
>ALLLLLLLLL OUR TIIIIIMES HAAAVE COME
>Ideologically I gravitate towards Las Vegas
Edgy wannabe Joker faggot detected
Got eaten by a baby spider whilst wearing a clockwork tin helmet. The baby spider then ate something rotten and was on the verge of death before even meeting Roland. So fucking stupid.
I will never not be mad at the final DT book.
US-Russia nuclear war would be a hell of a lot more exciting, especially if we get miles-high radioactive tornadoes of fire able to throw Greyhound buses at airplanes
>implying any of us would survive the initial outbreak
SO what is this movie about? Just a bunch of people surviving in a house or some shit? Sounds comfy
Here’s a suggestion
Similar in various respects (nuclear war instead of a virus causes the apocalypse), and the Flagg expy does exactly that
World is decimated by a plague. The survivors then get drawn to rebuilding society either with mother Abigail (chosen by god) or Randall Flagg (chosen by the Crimson King).
The opposite side of this fucking weirdo, hate even looking at him.
