the ad for joker had more impact and was better produced than the actual film. it was a very simple movie with no depth, it just added a "ooooh did it happen?" twist at the end to make itself seem smarter than it is. it's still DC trash at its core.

Its literally explained that the poor family is struggling so hard because they invested in a business that went under due to circumstances beyond their control (the Chinese cake shop fad that tanked and bankrupted countless Koreans irl) and that they've been using the "street smarts" they use on the rich family to barely keep afloat in the aftermath. They smooth talk the pizza shop girl at the beginning as an example that they're not stupid and do sly shit all the time to get by. Try watching movies without your phone in your hand before you open your mouth and prove you have no attention span whatsoever

Again, the point of the movie is that the poor family abuses the misplaced trust of the rich family because they're caught up on class stereotypes and are convinced poor people are shifty, and people who they think are in their own tribe (the rich) couldn't possibly be that low.
Lazy writing is making a character do something suddenly stupid out of their established character traits. These characters are written this way from the beginning not just as an excuse to allow this shit to happen, but because it ties into the theme of the rich wrongly distrusting people they believe to be lower while being sheltered enough from hardship to believe their own kind have nothing but good intentions.
It isn't rocket science. You're actually too stupid to understand the theme of a movie that couldn't have a clearer theme if it tried.
