I had terribly severe acne on my face, chest, and especially my back for over a decade. I took a variant of accutane when I was around 24 and it was a miracle drug. I'm 28 now and pimples are uncommon, ill get a few small ones a month.only downside I know of so far is I have to apply chapstick a few times a day because my lips get dry, but nothing has been wrong in the inside so far. thankfully I don't have any huge craters in my cheeks like hispanic people do. my back is really scarred though and it's going to take years for the discoloration to go away unless i do laser treatment.

did you get any permanent freckles on your body? before taking accutane I took few different kinds acne medication that weren't as strong, and I started to get a large amount of freckles around my ankles. it kind of went away over time but it returned. not sure if the accutane contributed to it too.

when I was in my teens and my acne was at its worst my dermatologist didn't allow me to use accutane because I had a supposed history of "depression." it really pissed me off because my "depression" was just from problems in my life, and my biggest problem was my severe acne that absolutely destroyed my self-esteem and confidence. I could have cured my acne a lot sooner and developed a better social life and saved myself from a ton of acne scars over the years. and I can confirm when I took accutane when I was 24 I didn't cause any depression.

I'm pretty sure. your dermatologist would let you know. supposedly some people with fungal acne would relapse once the accutane leaves your system, but i finished my treatment more than 4 years ago and my skin is still fine, but my condition was rosacea.

I remember when I was young I had some really severe acne, nothing like that, but still pretty severe, and you know what cured it up?

I shaved, and then held rubbing alcohol on my face with a cloth.

Sure the pain was so severe I wanted to scream, but after a few months to a year, the scar tissue built up nicely and never had a bump since.
