In the novel, Muldoon teams up with the Lawyer and they go on a few badass buddy-cop missions across the island with various firearms. Would have been peak kino if they had left something like that in the movie, instead of reducing the lawyer to a meme character.

the book is a blast and everyone should read it. don't bother with lost world.

The book has a lot of kino individual scenes, but on the whole it's a bit of a mess that doesn't stand up when you spend more than 30 seconds thinking about the logic of everything. The reason the movie is so much better is that they kinda ejected a lot of the book's underlying plot/logic and just leaned into the "dinosaur adventure" side of things.

It's "chili and sea bass." Look at the fucking picture. There are chilis on it. There is a dish called "Chilean sea bass" but that isn't what was served in Jurassic Park.

Because the entire Rex in San Diego scene was retarded, AND the movie wants us to sympathizes with the good guys when the reality is that Vince Vaughn's character was a bigger villain and antagonist then any of the InGen members.

The best improvement from the books to the movies - turning Malcolm from a blowhard told-you-so author insert into a comedic side character.

I'm not sure it makes it incoherent, it just changes it from the asshole capitalism direction in the books. Movie Hammond means well, he's doing something genuinely remarkable ... but he's self delusional about it, he's not giving it the weight and attention it demands.

I prefer a flawed-Hammond who is likeable and sympathetic over one who is just an outright asshole for dollars.
