got you covered
This movie will be meme'd ad nauseum because the Virus in it is from China and is also from bats (and pigs).
I always get this movie mixed up with another just like it and it sucks because the other one is better in every way.
The Andromeda Strain (1971)
12 Monkeys (1995)
It's also the most realistic movie about a virus pandemic. Warranted for its meme status at this point. As long as China keeps having wet markets, the more zoonotic diseases will spread from there.
Oldie but goodie. Andromeda Strain
GRETA DID CORONA
Andromeda is a better book
This movie was stale as fuck. It's basically "This is how a very serious global pandemic would work".
Main characters die and you're just like "eh whatever, show me what Morpheus is up to"
Blindness
Not really a virus though
Pretty sure COVID-19 is a strong coronavirus that was being studied and accidentally got leaked out of some lab.
It's been years since I've seen it but I do remember it failing to maintain tension
What was it about Michael Creighton that allowed him to write so much kino?
He's redpilled
6’9”
I actually feel really unwell and low energy today with fluey symptoms. Not sure if it's just in my head though.
>watched this on a plane
oops
so you hate it because it was reasonable and not the x-thousandth zombie apocalypse film? The only thing kind of dumb about the movie was the Jude Law sideplot, not because it isn't practical there would be scammers irl but because it didn't add anything to the overall story.
I just saw this, I loved the 55 minute decontamination montage.
I didn't hate it, I just didn't really like it. Was kind of interesting, but pretty boring all around. Like the other poster said, there was no real tension.
you should be watch be watching POST epidemic almost every country in the caribbean just got it today ITS OVER
don't really agree, I felt that when it was clear the CDC didn't have a solution (i.e when Morpheus tried to evacuate his wife, Matt Damon and his daughter running into mobs getting groceries etc.) it felt tense but in a more realistic way.
The movie had tension in theory, but it wasn't tense. I can't really explain it. Honestly it's probably one of the weirder experiences I've had in movies.
I didn't really like it, but I can't really explain why I didn't like it. Honestly, I'd recommend it just for that reason, so I could talk with someone about how weird it is.
93 Days, about an ebola breakout
He was a legitimate scientifically-minded and scientifically literate person.
Same reason he was an open skeptic of the "Global Warming" narrative.
He was literally based. He understood the weakness of the human mind. Thus he wrote novels and rejected a scientific career.
Thread killer
>He was a legitimate scientifically-minded and scientifically literate person.
Haha, good one user.
Philadelphia was spooky
Could use a bit of a ranking system. Of better groupings
same here.
>no 12 monkeys movie or tv series
s m h
Cuz he had a fuckin PhD and shit, dude was a legit brainiac who wrote as a hobby
Simple. It's almost clinical and there is very little reason to get attached to the characters.
open your eyes
I see
Your eyes are open
>Land of the Dead
I'm not sure why this one gets so much hate, it's a legitimately fun "so bad it's good" flick. Good silly kills (soldier pulls pin on grenade, zombie with cleaver chops off his hand, grenade and hand fall to the ground, soldier falls on grenade, he explodes), ridiculous casting, silly premise (zombies are forming a society now, Mad Max truck, dumb rich vs poor setting), etc. Dennis Hopper doing a poorly acted "look over there" move before shooting a guy in the back of the head is absolute gold.
Get the boys over, blow the top off some suds, and get into it.
why would you include zombies
i see what you did there
Omega Man takes places in LA not NY.
okay I'm dumb but the TV series actually has bits during the pandemic and not all set before/after
Planet Terror
I've seen a few of these.
Personal favorite: Omega Man (of course)
Smartest: Andromeda Strain
Guilty Pleasure: Romero's The Crazies
Creepiest: Last Man On Earth
Dumbest Ending: Outbreak ("C'mon we gotta find the monkey!")
Dumbest start to finish: World War Z (listen the the audibook instead)
One I've never seen but always been curious to: Rabid
and finally
The absolute most soul blisteringly depressing contagion film that even though it's well made I never ever EVER want to see it again: Virus
G'night kids...don't forget to wash yer hands.
Flu (2013)
Not exactly a virus, and highly fictional, but The Strain has some virus kino themes. Particularly in the first season.
IF WE DID THIS TO WUHAN IN NOVEMBER NOBODY IN THE FIRST WORLD WOULD BE DYING
Love this one too, Dennis Hopper shouting YOU HAVE NO RIGHT is peak kino.
>he can't appreciate a good procedural
only bad part was the 'scientist tests on themselves' cliche
we didn't know about it in Novemeber but it's what China should have done
where is the one with the dude with ebola and infects people with it?
Jesus what a giant
This, he was a smart guy. When you are smart you can do things like write zany fiction.
this movie had a surprising amount of gore. love the dumb entitled americans acting the way they really would irl
>land of the dead, dawn of the dead remake, shaun of the dead, resident evil, 28 days later, walking dead
>no Day of the Dead
pleb taste
The book is better but the movie is still good.
You mean that thing nobody had ever seen before but has since been copied a million times?
>accidentally
what kind of zoomer shit is this where is the stand
Based. What a great movie.
Completely forgot about this film. Decent B movie
Crichton was based and redpilled, a lot like Tom Clancy, but he was way smarter than Clancy and didn't attach his lips to the ass of the neocon government the way Clancy did. Crighton was a hardcore paleocon.
Sahara. The Dirk Pitt movie. It's basically a contagion movie. I wouldn't call it kino though.
never even heard of this shit before
