I've posted this on here before, did you guys know Miss Howard Stern was basically an act. I mean she has a natural high pitched voice similar to Megan Mullally, but she super over exaggerates it on the show and everything else she does.
I used to work for a production security company and one time on a set I saw her, it wasn't the stern show, it was a commercial of some kind that I've never seen air anywhere, which is common, not everything gets green lighted. Anyway, she was being normal "Miss Howard Stern" on camera/off camera, but then I walked by her trailer which was waay separated from all the others and very distinctly overheard her having a normal conversation over the phone with someone, and she even sounded smart. Like she was being articulate and did not sound like a bimbo at all. Basically a normal person.
I brought this up to one of the production assistants I was trying to hook up with and she told me that Andrea Ownbey AKA Miss Howard Stern is basically a character actor doing some sort of like an Andy Kaufman routine where she stays in character at ALL TIMES, however supposedly everyone who's been in the business for a while know that.
Oh that and Steven Spielberg likes to have pool parties with children. It's a different group of children every time. I don't know where he gets them or what he does with them, all I know is that they arrive in a series of suburbans and then they leave. I can't say how I know about that last one though.

I used to work at a car dealership that was owned by a big NFL player. Car companies would give him promotion cars just so he could be spotted in them. He would always return them in super fucked up unsaleable conditions. After his NFL career was over the dealership closed down. He was a giant dick to everyone so we stole from him.

It's hard work in the sense of how many hours you're putting in. A typical guard will work 12 hour shifts with a 12 hour turnaround, and this can be 7 days a week depending on how much work there is.. However, if you do good and get promoted to "Security Gaffer" which basically means you're a supervisor, your hours can stretch into 20+ hour days since you have to be there before the first person gets there, and leave after the last one leaves. A gaffer is in charge of all security functions for the post he's assigned to. After the show wraps (we call everything a show, it doesn't matter if it's a movie or a tv show, even commercials are called "shows") once everyone is gone, if they leave equipment for the next day's shoot, then it's the gaffer's responsibility to assign guards to those areas and check up on them to make sure they're not sleeping on the job.
I did this job in my early 20's and could not imaging doing it now that I'm in my mid 30's. I just would have the strength and energy. The pay isn't amazing, but it's definitely above average for unarmed security work. It's also very safe as most shows (almost all) have retired or current police officers on set, in uniform, so if anything gets dangerous just wave them down.
As for wanting to get into the business as an actor, I literally worked with a guy that got hand picked to be an extra on a scene for some show, and then through that he made some connections and ended up switching over to go do that. There were however even more (maybe like 7-8) other guys that got hired to be teamsters and work in the grip department, transpo, etc. Oh you'll make connections alright. There's also a lot of ways to make side money that you'll eventually figure out.

Well you have to either be big (and preferably black I've noticed) or an off duty police officer. I knew a few guys that specifically became reserve officers just so they could make money doing body guarding work. I wouldn't suggest that though, it's dangerous and one slip up and your fired. Kind of like the limo drivers, I've seen those fuckers get fired on the spot on set just because they didn't set the air conditioner to the "right" amount, or they got to set late because of traffic...as if that's their fault..
As a bodyguard you might find yourself doing both of those jobs actually. Do not recommend.

I'll put it to you this way, we were all briefed before she showed up to set for he music video to not look at her. I didn't give a shit, my job IS to look at people. I'm not her bodyguard, and I don't work for her. My job was to ensure a secure environment for everyone at my post, so I instructed my guards to disregard that instruction, because what if we missed something happening that we needed to attend to because we're not looking at the general direction of wherever she was. After all, she was JENNIFER LOPEZ and the music video she was shooting was in an abandoned building on skid row. A lot of things could go wrong. Remaining vigilant of ALL areas and persons is literally the description of our job, "observe and report."
Well anyway, she got started with one my guards (a rookie and a female) and she (Jennifer Lopez) just started verbally attacking her and degrading her. I mean the bitch was saying just straight up evil shit like "why don't you go commit suicide when you go home? That's what I would do if I was you," (you know, basically how you all talk to each other on here?) I had to step in and tell her bodyguard that if he didn't handle her I would call every paparazzi I knew and leak a recording of the whole incident. I never actually recorded it, but I did have a camcorder on hand that I would use to record equipment locations and just basic operations for upper management to either use in defense of someone claiming we weren't doing our job or training purposes.

On occasion you get the double down / dont you know who i am types. not much but my brother worked odd jobs on Broadway for a couple years. He worked behind the set for The Daily Show when John Stewart was still on and said he was absolutely awesome, told the guys back stage he was grateful for their work and offered to buy them drinks if they were down.
He also ran into Robin Williams behind stage while setting up an off Broadway show. Apparently Robin would show up to these things randomly just to get a feel for his younger days. My brother didn't register who he was until Robin came over to shake his hand and chat with him about what a fan he was of the arts. My brother then realized who he was talking to and told Robin Williams he loved him and was a huge fan. From what he told me, after he said this Robin looked him in the eye, winked, and said "thanks and keep up the good work too, kid" before walking off stage.
My brother also had the woman who plays Suzie from Curb Your Enthusiasm lecture at his college. She was an alum of his school and when she did Q&A she was your typical sweet and funny Jewish mom stereotype, nothing like the show. My brother went home and immediately watched the show after that.
I've only met boring Z list celebs who are scientists and the like. Bob Ballard yelled at me for not talking about his research more at one of his exhibits I was hosting (didn't know he'd show up). I met Nigel Marven when he was still a big deal on Discovery Channel and he was kind of meh. Seemed to not acknowledge he was a celebrity.
At that same job I actually had a chance to meet Taylor Swift, Harrison Ford (w Calista Flockhart), and Don Johnson since they were all visitors there but turned down the chance to meet them and give tours (don't ask why bc I don't know)
