Godzilla vs Biollante

Attached: gvb.jpg (676x1008, 201.86K)

all of the millennium movies with Tokyo SOS being especially kino

G54, G84, GvsBiollante are the major highlights

KKvsG62, GvsMothra64, DAM, GvsMechaG74, G2000, G14, and GKOTM are the runner ups.

The rest are personal preference

I'm pretty sure Godzilla doesn't have a dick.

By best I assume you mean "least shit". I don't think any of them are even worth that title.

This movie is pleb filter.

I had pretty high expectations for the Heisei series but I thought they were a little goofy

Attached: skele.gif (100x58, 24.16K)

I like Millennium, but it's clearly the weakest of the eras (not including the 'Reiwa' era since it's still ongoing). Final Wars is the most kino.

EXCUSE ME, I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY

Are you the guy who rants about KOTM in every Godzilla thread like we should listen

Objectively, the best films are probably 1954 and 1984, but I think '54 ultimately has the latter edged out. There's a lot of surprisingly chilling stuff in there, from the people dying of radiation poisoning to Serizawa's final confrontation with Godzilla. It's got this atmosphere of dread that none of the others really matched.

My personal favorite, though, is Godzilla vs Ghidorah (1991). It combines the excellent cinematography and practical effects of the '84 and Biollante with the cheesiness that made the '70s movies so much fun.

I like Heisei, but so much was going on in the background that affected their development. Toho tried to do a different approach to Godzilla with GvBiollante, but it bombed in Japan. They figured the only way to keep Godzilla profitable was to make the new series into a bunch of lower-budget nostalgia cash-ins, which is why they went with King Ghidorah as the next villain (KG was the most popular of Toho's other kaiju among men). That movie was made in 1991, which was the last Godzilla movie made before Japan's financial collapse. The next year, Toho made GvsMothra, because Mothra was the most popular of their kaiju among women. This movie was basically a remake of Mothra 1961+MvG 1964, and it became the most profitable Heisei movie in Japan. In 1992, Toho signed the rights to Godzilla over to Tristar to make their own movie in the USA, so GvMechagodzilla II was intended to be the final Heisei movie. However, the Tristar movie got delayed, so Toho continued the series to try to maintain public interest in Godzilla. By 1995, they decided that enough was enough, and ended the Heisei series using Godzilla's death as the hook. Toho pretty much phoned in the final two movies of the series because they anticipated the Tristar movie doing well. The only reason Toho made the Millennium series was because the Tristar movie bombed, which meant that their planned trilogy was scrapped.

>still no crossover movie

Based jet jaguar.

Shin Godzilla is too OP

Godzilla vs Destroyah
Ending is one of the kinoest moments of the franchise

Why doesn't Yas Forums like vs Hedorah?
Nah, it looked staged af

Aside from G1954 (which is obligatory), I think Mothra vs Godzilla 1964 is the best movie.
>sequel to both Mothra 1961 and KKvG 1962
>good story/human characters with some of Toho's best actors
>good cinematography
>good special effects
>good music
>the last Showa movie where Godzilla is 'bad' and has no humanlike behavior
>kind of tragic since it's the first movie where Mothra dies
Really, the only flaw I can think of is that the Infant Island scenes are very low-budget and downgraded from Mothra 1961, which was itself was not as good as Honda wanted.

excellent soundtrack, that's for sure

I hate Shin Godzillas tail.

>Showa
Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster
>Heisei
Godzilla vs Destroyah
>Millennial
GMK
>Hollywood
King of the Monsters
>Most Fun
Final Wars

>most fun
more like least fun
easiest film to fall asleep

>Millennium is weakest era

What? Millennium has Godzilla 2000, GMK, and Godzilla x MechaGodzilla. I would even rank Tokyo SOS above all the Heisei movies except Biollante. Heisei tanked after Biollante. King Ghidorah can be enjoyed in a so bad it's good kind of way.

>not liking X-MenMatrixWars

Plebbest of plebs go watch Japs argue over policies while a big lizard shoots purple lasers all over Tokyo.

Nah that movie was worth it for this moment alone.

i can't appreciate the MvG because Mothra was a real kino that didn't need a sequel

the real pleb filter
6/10 but you're a pleb for not liking it

Kino, I made a streamable link for the scene because yt keeps taking it down
streamable.com/3inao

That thing was Titanosaurus level shit.

but it's a sequel to rodan

Godzilla (1998) is the patrician choice.

I like those movies, but all of Millennium except GMK and Final Wars have extremely slow pacing. If you think Heisei is bad because Biollante tanked, then Millennium should be just as bad. GvMegaguirus was supposed to be the start of a new continuity, but it bombed so bad that Toho brought in the Gamera triology director to make GMK as a standalone. Then they tried to start a new continuity with GXMechagodzilla, which was successful, but then Toho inexplicably replaced the main character in Tokyo SOS, which did so poorly that they decided to just make Final Wars to end the series. Like I said, I don't think any of those movies are 'bad,' and they have some kino moments, but Final Wars is as over-the-top as it is because the director thought all the Godzilla films made after the 70's were slow and boring.

Baby Yodzilla?

I think it's a good sequel, since the fairy twins become actual characters in MvG instead of just McGuffins like in Mothra 1961.

Attached: Shobijin1964.gif (500x368, 1.5M)

they were too annoying to be real characters

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this movie was the first time a human actually touched Godzilla onscreen.

1984

Besides Shin when else has that track been used? I think it was called monster March zero originally and Yashiori Strategy upped the tempo

delet

Attached: Shobijin1961.jpg (688x288, 36.26K)

FUGGGGGG IT'S GODZILLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

i mean look
The Peanuts were ugly

The track used in Shin Godzilla for the Yashiori Strategy was actually from "The Battle in Outer Space," but a version of it was first used in Godzilla 1954, then later in Invasion of Astro-Monster 1965.

I meant it tanked in quality. The Heisei movies are so bland, scripts so flimsy, and characters are so trite. Can anyone actually say they enjoy the characters in MechaGodzilla II more than Akane of X MechaGodzilla or the cast of 2000?

I'm not a coomer, but they were cute. The later Shobijin were never as sympathetic and adorable, in my opinion. I guess I just like them because the bad guys always bullied them so much.

Why can't japan just make a real Godzilla anime? The Netflix movies were half Japanese with shitty berserk cgi, why not 2D?

I'd love to have that as a poster.

>not liking dinosaur boy and the qt scientist
I like Akane, but her "I'm a loner" backstory and brooding personality were anime-tier. It also completely killed my suspension of disbelief that a bunch of guys would bully a chick who was that pretty.

None of the Millennium films did all that well at the box office. Even GMK had to be released alongside a cartoon to put people in seats.
The series was just worn out by the 2000s. There was little in the way of originality and what was original either wasn't executed well (Orga, Megaguirus) or was plain dumb (dimension tide).
