Are there any other tv series where the story overcomes the talentless cast?
There's only 3 or 4 actors in this entire series who can actually act, but I still enjoy the story

I’m 4 episodes into Season 1 and am debating dropping it. I really like the setting and general premise but the show feels so damn flat and most of the acting is meh at best. The main guy is a bland beta and the raspy voiced poo lady who dresses like she’s visiting the Taj Mahal is annoying too.
I agree on both counts, but like I said, the story is actually good. If you're able to power through the acting talent, it's worth it imo
Holden is getting better, hate Naomis look in season 4 though.
Need to bring back Anderson Dawes ASAP though.
If you think the indian lady is bad now , dont watch the later seasons, One of the worst cases of flanderisation I've ever seen.
The worst by far is the british chick with the stupid hair, how can someone so awful get so far?
season 4 was the worst pile of shit i've seen since last season of game of thrones. who fucked it up so badly? did they use a fresh-outta-college diversity hire to run the script who never touched the books? the whole 'plot' of this season would've easily fit in 1 1/2 episodes. miller was kinda interesting but instantlydropped after the first large CGI-scene with planets, he was literally useless. goddamn this season was such a mess.
What about Autistic Muscle guy. Is he a good actor? I can't tell because I literally dont understand what sorta angle they are going for with the character most of the time. I feel he could be good in a sitcom or something.
I once had a dream where Avasarala gave me a titjob and I came fucking buckets
Why is she so FUCKING CUTE bros?
Everyone told me The Expanse would get better. It doesn't. They all say season 1 is the worst season, but it's the best season. The story is somewhat grounded, the actors are bad, but bareable, and overall it is a charming start to the series. Season 2 is still as bareable as season 1, but you end the season hoping season 3 will be better. You'll be surprised when season 3 comes around, because oh god, things start getting rough, and this bad taste starts developing in your mouth. Season 4 is game over. Atrocious. The acting is next level bad - somehow all the main actors lose what little talent they had left, and the writers are probably on ketamine or some kind of brain-killing drug because the dialogue makes you want to puke. There is a scene where Naomi is on a planet for the first time, and there's a 2 minute shot where all the dumb fucking actors are looking at the planet in wonder and they all look retarded - you knew they were just looking at a greenscreen. Avasarala does a downward spiral throughout the seasons when it comes to how her character is written, and by season 4 she's literally just the most generic, soullessly written character in the series. Someone mentioned flanderisation, and that's the perfect word, except instead of taking the successful aspects of Avasarala, they take the worst aspects and go fucking overdrive with it. By season four she's just throwing out one-liners that are delivered in the most painfully cringe way you literally just shut your eyes and pretend you aren't seeing what you're actually fucking seeing because it's unbelievably bad.
I like drummer but completly scratch bull as a character was a shit decision, the whole Behemoth part was a let done for me compared to the books.
It's only worth watching if you're the kind of Sci-Fifag that consumes Sci-Fi and nothing else. The kind that'd rather rewatch Babylon-5 than give Mad Men a chance. If you're still into Heinlein, Clarke and the like, and you just like Sci-Fi in general, you'll like it. The same way yu'd like something like Altered Carbon (S1 of course). Otherwise, drop it now that it's early.
Mate I dropped this before the first episode ended, you can smell the shit from the minute you turn it on.
These sy-fy channel tier shows are a dime-a-dozen and none of them are any good.
They all seem to have autistically loyal fanbases though.
Taylor Lautner is relentlessly handsome.
>ywn be bullied by drummer
>Why is she so FUCKING FAT bros?
ftfy
I think they killed off too much likable cast. I will watch next season only for Amos desu
without miller it's a filler
more clarissa next season
>stop liking things I don’t like
>just hang in there, it definitely starts getting good around season 7!
Nice pasta friend
Yea when Naomi and Holden are on screen I tune out.
what the fuck even happens mid way through season 3?
did the fucking protomolecule just lazily float all the way past Uranus and no one paid it any mind? mars and the UN didn't try to nuke it to shit? pierre mao was one of the only remaining interesting characters and it looks like he is going to be forgotten like Miller's earther buddy cop
it sounds like season 4 is shit, and I actually fell asleep while watching the first episode with the ring
should I just stop?
The set design is fucking shit, it’s like wow obviously this was built in a studio everything’s so artificial SUCK MY DICK THE EXPANSE
>season 4 is shit
i saw it as a fan of this show and the FCUKING BLEW IT HARD. dont waste your time. its all just artsy wide camera shots with literally 0 story or rather a story so boring and short it shouldve taken them 2 episodes at max to work it out but nope, they stretched it to 10 lazy boring episodes.
You dont need to find her cute necessarily, but that woman is a tank, which mades it doubly adorable when she comes off awkward and self conscious
you have shit taste, what can I tell you champ?
As a british person, that woman makes me cringe even more. People who talk with that accent are usually middle-class know-it-all's with terrible, bossy attitudes. You can usually find them working as teachers or in the HR department. For a character who is supposed to be working class belter scum, it doesn't work at all
Wanted to watch this show with my parents but they can't stand shows with mumble dialogue. Neither can I unless I am wearing headphones to be honest. I miss when actors enunciated their words
FLIPNBURN BITCHES
personally I think this is the only show able to carry itself on the plot alone, and the hard sci fi aspect of it and the great sets etc
still surprised that not even season 4 killed my interest
I've watched every episode with subs on and I'm a native english speaker, you're right they're barely coherent
only chads can appreciate this show
The un lady says aprised a few times instead of appraised that tells you something about the quality of acting
I would watch an entire show that just followed Amos.
Unless they really screw up, next season's gonna have an entire story arc with Amos as the frontliner. Hopefully the budget is enough, it can get kino af.
ep 4 is the tipping point. watch ep 5, if you're not in to it after that then drop it. the whole show takes kind of a hard turn after ep 4.
I found the death of Strathairn's character a bit odd. It's played extremely dramatically but he really did fuck all in season 4, and prior to that was an antagonistic force. Seems more like a guy who gets unexpectedly executed via a bullet to the head like Leo in The Departed to emphasize the ruthless efficiency of the new baddies. The le epic emotional and dramatic death felt too out of place for the character.
>The kind that'd rather rewatch Babylon-5 than give Mad Men a chance
I don't like scifi that much, but that would probably be a good call, mad men was a steaming pile
I copy pasted the opening bit into the archive search. It's not a copypasta (yet). Genuinely we have an user that put some effort into a critical post.
I really hope so since clarissa was a pretty good cast aswell, but they changed so much from the books I'm kinda skeptical.
I'd like to see her in a minikini that's far too small and tight for her. The tits, hips, and ass are straining against it. Looks like the strings are going to snap at any moment and she'll be left nude.
Bookfags, do we get to see Anderson Dawes in S5?
Nope, but at this point you can't really say, they changed so many things and Dawes was never that big in the books to begin with
Iirc he shows up only in book 6 but am pretty certain they're gonna squeeze at least some part of that book (probably the entirety of it even) into season 5. Book Dawes doesn't really do much and has a different personality, but since the show is lacking one rather major belter character (Pa, she was rolled into Drummer) and Harris is a great actor, Dawes would make a fine choice for taking over her part (Dawes is supposed to be the governor of Ceres, while Pa used to work under Fred but is now a space pirate queen, so their plotlines are a bit different).
Thanks for the feedback guys this pretty much confirmed my suspicions. Maybe I’ll check out the books instead, but as a show this was an unbearable downgrade after finishing a rewatch of Mad Men
SPIN DA DRUMMER
i love her Yas Forumsros...
honestly they probably just can't afford to bring Jared Harris back, otherwise he probably would have been in season 4
BELT A LOAD AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Season 4 wasn't that great. Sure, they got Bezos' money to shoot outside in cinemascope but the entire season felt like they focused too much on the drama. The Drummer and Ashford stories were pushed in the background, in the end it felt like if he died like a random extra.
I love that Jim Holden is a betamax guy who fakes his dark voice all the time.
We need a time machine to murder the actor so we can replace him with an galactic ultra chad Shepard.
We could just get Karl Urban and rewrite the script so he is angry and evil all the time to basically do The Expanse: Renegade.
The story is basically the same but how he gets there is sex, murder and air-locking, every episode.
She's an ex-boxer. Not fat, TH I C C
She looks like a fucking goblin
>what the fuck even happens mid way through season 3?
the attack on io was the final chapter of the second book
You know I'm right
>drummer, ashford, errinwright, nguyen, alex
>cringe
>No Ashford or Bobby
You fucked up
>Alex
>drummer
you were so close
>drummer
>cringe
I made Amos small for a reason too
