well if youve actively avoided it, youre probably in for a bad time because you already know what its about.

quit being a weird little sperg and just watch it.

Two charming kid movies, one well directed movie oozing with angst, a complete and utter mess that somehow has a cult following, and from then on only unwatchable garbage with no redeeming qualities whatsoever

>one well directed movie oozing with angst
make that "example of how great direction can make everyone ignore a dogshit script"

These are children's movies. Watch them with little cousins or nieces and nephews.

Keep avoiding. Nothing to lose, unless you wanna hang out some manchildren and feminist buddies.

Good summary.

deh

>a complete and utter mess that somehow has a cult following
it's because Emma Watson got super hot in Goblet

Genuine dogshit

Despite their s-jew following. They're pretty much the perfect franchise. No genuinely bad films in the series.

Goblet of Fire has a cult following? I'd say it's easily the most hated one, which easily makes it the most underrated one since it's pure kino.

I don't know why you'd start this now. It was great to grow up with, but everyone's moved on except for those looking back at it critically.

>unwatchable garbage with no redeeming qualities whatsoever
the David Yates films are really, truly irredeemably bad. Yates seriously must be literally in bed with Rowling to have kept his hands on the franchise that long.

I still don't get the hate that 6 has picked up.
Its probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite of the series. I mean I've seen some people on here place it lower than the 4th which is objectively the worst book and film.

Why didn't the "wizards" just cast themselves out of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises? Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
a-at least the books were good though
"No!" The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

Yeah, no. Its just a mess because the book was. The filter is the Columbus films because people go in not expecting comfy shenanigans.

I too have avoided Harry Potter movies and books my entire life. You might as well keep ignoring it.

That’s about right. Although DH Part 2 I find pretty good if only for the fact that everything comes full circle and the overall story comes into focus.

imagine unironically thinking Goblet is not the best film

I watched the first movie with a friend of mine
it was very bland, the movie just didnt have anything interesting in it and Quiddich makes no sense
Im sure kids would like it, otherwise it was a waste of time

shameful display, but I would still bend her over.

Series turns into a slog after the third one. PoA was actually good due to a talented director.
