Season 10's Mel Gibson episode was something I remarked as being dreadfully awful.

After the Bart and Lisa incest episode

season 11 episode 6

Around 2000.

Sadly many years ago. Golden years are long gone.

Season 4 with Marge vs. The Monorail

Season nine is the transition it's officially bad by season 10. The cue is celebrities doing cameos as themselves. The tipping point is when Homer does lallapaloza

Pleb filtered

When Homer joined Michael Jackson in the psychiatric ward

Around the time they stopped incorporating celebrities into the plotline of the episode, making them real characters. Instead using celebrities in cheap cameo appearance, and literally shouting their name with all irony lost.

So, Yas Forums, when did you finally reject the lifestyle of the city slicker?

The Principal and the Pauper

what episode was that?

s11e05

They should have stoped after the movie.
It was already going to shit before, and the movie would have been a good closer

this one

tell me about it
I seriously wonder who the fuck still watches that crap to make that shit still being profitable

Simpson Tide

the very first time I watched a Simpsons episode and was like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS BULLSHIT?

that feeling would become more and more frequent, but Simpson Tide was unique because I'd never hated a Simpsons episode like that before.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simpson_Tide

god i miss sneedposting

it's not profitable because of people watching it. It's other things. They just need to keep the franchise alive. For example, the Simpsons mobile game, Tapped Out, has generated over 100 million dollars.

>when did it start to suck?
Right around when the movie came out

nope. I can wrap my head around people not liking them changing Seymour's backstory and doing something so bold, but the episode is well-written and funny. Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein loved the show and were conscientious about the characters and tone, and Ken Keeler is an awesome writer. Watch it again and judge it scene-by-scene, line-by-line. It holds up.

Never? I still watch it every week

this iz the best anwser

This episode was a pleb filter that legitimately flew over the head of everyone. People who hate it are the citizens of Springfield, not wanting Skinner to have any personality and backstory, they just want their flanderized Seymour back to the way he was. And they get their wish. All the brainlets cheer as things return to normal and everyone vows to forget any of this ever happened.
lol!! oh principal skinner! what a virgin tight ass! he love his mommy!

>when did it start to suck?

How are they still making it 21 years later?

When it started going downhill? Probably season 11 or so.
When it REALLY started getting bad? 2008 or so

hi reddi.t

It was never good.

WHEN DID SNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEE SNREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE SNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HSAHAHAHAHHHASAAHATHAHAHHAHAAHASAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Jesus fucking Christ... another potentially great Simpsons thread ruined by you underaged cocksuckers. Seriously, how is uttering the same one or two phrases, or some variant of "Formerly X" funny? How is ruining any potential discussion of the greatest sitcom ever made enjoyable? I didn't have much growing up... in fact I was a latchkey kid. I didn't have many role models, but I did have The Simpsons growing up. Every week I would watch The Simpsons, recording each episode on my parents' VHS machine, then rewatch every episode during the summer. Eventually I enlisted in the Marine Corps and got sent to Iraq. Again, all I had was The Simpsons, seeing as how I had nothing waiting for me back home. My motivation to see the end of my tour alive was knowing that when I got back to the States I could look forward to seeing what kind of hijinks Homer and his family would be up to next. And I loved discussing this show on Yas Forums, one of the coolest places on the internet. Well, no more. I can't take this obnoxious spam for a second longer, I'm gone

By season 13 the writers had become aware that they had already run out of ideas

youtu.be/1oUXUn30hts?t=27

This season has actually been pretty damn good but no one here actually watches it but me so you'd have no way of knowing. They pissed off the writers after the Apu stink so they've started pushing back against the forced SJW garbage.

the Frank Grimes episode seemed like a natural conclusion

sneed

I would compare the average sneedposters mentality to that of an attention hungry woman. Every simpsons thread needs to be about sneed and only sneed, and it causes them great pain to see a comfy thread in which no sneedposting is being done. This is further evidenced by the fact that sneedposters love to make simpson threads solely for the sake of sneedposting in them. They claim that it was because "simpson threads belong on Yas Forums, and yet when people went to Yas Forums and made comfy threads there sneedposters raided Yas Forums and shit up the comfy threads there too. In closing, it was never about memes or what kind of threads belonged where, it was just about attention. Similar to a child doing bad things to get attention, the sneedposter does not differentiate between positive and negative attention. It just craves attention in general.
