Onward on track to bomb

>The (roughly) $200 million animated comedy opened with a mere $40 million domestic and $68 million worldwide debut. That’s, in terms of inflation, the lowest domestic Fri-Sun launch ever for a Pixar toon. This isn’t Frozen 2 “only” opening with $41 million on its first day or Toy Story 4 “only” opening with $120 million. This is such a small number that not even Frozen 2-level legs can save it.

Why Americans are so antisemitic and dont want to watch cartoon about jewish fagget? You motherfuckers need more fluoride in your tapwater.

This, imagine NOT wanting to watch a movie staring some Jewish creatures and FEATURING A BLACK LESBIAN POLICE OFFICER

>sonic still playing
>scooby doo next month
Rip mouse shills, no China to save you now

because it sucks and showed no potential

Get woke...

>nobody buys a ticket because the movie looks completely unappealing
>blame it on Corona
There will be many such cases of this scenario in the next year. Sad!

Lol why are you seething so hard?

How did Pixar fall so far from grace?

White slavers.

They cancelled talented men like Brad Bird and replaced them with wamen.

When Disney bought them out they brought a lot of their talent to Walt Disney Animation Studios. Hence why Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph are more acclaimed than any Pixar film of the 2010s other than the Toy Stories.

>Coronavirus in full swing
>story about two demonic looking elf brothers trying to bring their dad back from the dead using magic

Wrong time for the film to be released. Especially when its competition is a cute blue hedgehog that just runs fast.

They got rid of John Lasseter.

It looked way too "By the numbers" for Pixar. Like I could just watch Monsters Inc again.
>But you won't get to see how the main characters get betrayed by someone they should have trusted!
How will I ever recover?

>toon

Bought by Disney who's slowly been poaching talent from Pixar to make Disney animated films better.

Shit, I meant John Lasseter.

>200M dollar budget
Wtf, why are these animated movies so expensive? Aren’t animation artists always bitching about being underpaid?

Disney moved all their good employees to their Disney Studio the one that made Frozen

Notice how it's now domestic and worldwide rather than domestic and international. Note that worldwide includes domestic. Funny how the various sites all simultaneously made that change.

Wait - - this movie cost $200 million to make?? That's already more expensive than many blockbuster films. I thought CGI was supposed to be a cheaper alternative. You might as well make a real movie for that price.

why yes i do whack it to skull girls how did you know

The animation is very unappealing to look at

>Note that worldwide includes domestic.
Are you sure? If so, that's some sneaky wording.

Yes, I am.

The film was underpromoted and shows little of the "urgent need to see it" and uniqueness of Pixar's other films
Think about the premises:
>Incredibles: a slightly Watchmen-inspired plot - how does being a superhero affect family life? What are the responsibilities of a superhero? When do you step aside, hang up the suit, and let go? Are there evils that need combatting?
>Inside Out: personified emotions played by notable comedians in a journey through a girl's mind and exploring what it's like up there growing up
>Coco: a journey through the vibrant, fascinating, and even beautiful Mexican afterlife about a boy, his guitar, and the power of music
Other than Book of Life for Coco, how many other mainstream (kid-friendly) films share these premises?
Onward is basically
>Two brothers played by notable actors go on a zany quest with/for comic relief character in a generic fantasy environment (but it's cheesily like modern day too)

I think mostly it's the design that's shit, look at the OP, doesn't make me want to watch it at all
In fact, it looks like those disgusting gross netflix comics about sexuality

>What went wrong?
NORMAL WORDS, BUT A GAY GOBLIN GUY.

>What went wrong?
Make a 200 million dollar comedy with no comedians, chris pratt is a funny guy but not a comedian and they have him as a supporting actor not the main character. unless I'm wrong but tom holland being listed first on imdb, I'm assuming he's getting the paycheck.

You could see this being a failure a mile away if you weren't a 200 million dollar idiot

Joe Ranft died in a car crash. He was the real brains behind their story department and was the only guy that could call John Lasseter out on his shit.

>all the shit disney bought to make money is somehow underperforming/bombing
the funny thing, they're all to blame

>Tom Holland
That's your problem

Just wait until that shit he made with the Xenomorph comes out. It will kill Lionsgate the same way Cutthroat Island killed Carolco.

It's actually a really good movie but the characters aren't sexy and China can't go outside so it was destined to flop.

on top of that both of those actors' big draw is their real performances, not voice work, little girls love seeing tom holland, women love seeing chris pratt, not an animation that they are voicing. I just think whoever thought up this thing didn't play to the strength's of the actors or anything else. cmon the story is meh, not cool.

Inside Out is very good

1. Coronavirus virus. It closed Chinese theaters. And it scared people from wanting to go to the theaters.
2. It just didn’t look that interesting.

>involved with Cars
>not involved with Monster's Inc, Finding Nemo, Incredibles, Wall-E, Up
Yeah, nah.

because none of that money goes to the animators

I thought it was decent, but overall weak considering older Pixar works.

It looked completely uninspired

Its been banned in several muslim countries for referencing gay parents

>generic
>boring
>boycotted by Christians because it's a kids movie with a small scene with a dyke
Man, if people are this upset about the racemixing in other movies too, then Hollywood is finished

the various articles celebrating this FIRST OPENLY GAY CHARACTER EVER were the only things that even made me aware this movie existed. i never heard anything else about it anywhere else at all

Thanks for explaining the plot user

obsessing over making ugly human characters to appease LGBTQBBQZP

oh look, another animated character that's just a recolored version of this basic design

Why the fuck do they spend so much on these original movies anyway? It's not like Pixar hasn't had a bomb before.

I saw it and liked it a lot, but it really was less unique than most Pixar films. Still recommend seeing it, even if for free

>banned
Don't you know?
It's called "Localization" when you ban or censor something due to respect of other cultures sensibilities.

The movie is just not aesthetically pleasing. Character designs are ugly and unappealing. I don't understand how Pixar could fail to grasp something so basic about animated kid movies.

every time I see a picture of this movie I feel like they took something from 100 movies and just smashed all together

It's almost like Wall-E and Up were produced by grieving co-workers.

>The main characters end up at an impossibly low point where everything they planned goes tits up, probably because one main character lied to another and now it looks like they won't succeed.
Awww, I hope they make it out okay QQ

NO LASSETER = NOT PIXAR
FUCK NU-PIXAR

>Make the characters ugly as fuck
>Expect it to sell
No kids like Troll dolls with human proportions. That shit is ugly.

I already view trannys and faggots as hideous monsters so this image is fitting.

I can't believe coronavirus did this.

Pretty much this, virtually all the old guard of Pixar is gone, the only one really left is Pete Docter and one guy can't keep such a massive operation together.

I'm glad that the Lasseter era of Pixar at least ended with Toy Story 4, if that's the final goodbye of a legendary film studio it's solid. Hardly felt like a kid's movie though there was way too many plot threads for my nephew to keep track of.

Completely nonexistent marketing. I had no idea a new Pixar movie was even out until last weekend.
I'm guessing the Disney overlords realized the movie wasn't good and didn't bother spending any extra on marketing.

Animated movies have been never been about cost. They exist because children prefer the simple, cute characters and visuals

>I'm glad that the Lasseter era of Pixar at least ended with Toy Story 4, if that's the final goodbye
Get a load of this faggot. TS already said goodbye with 3.

Good. Look at this fucking ugly shit. It doesn't deserve anything. I'm so sick of out of touch old dudes designing ugly characters.

Pixar is dead. If we're honest, it has been for a while, even before all the SJW shit.

The real question - when did the cracks first show?

Attached: DON'T ASK QUESTIONS.jpg (960x960, 171.75K)

Good Dinosaur.

Yeah but they were right that Bonnie wouldn't make Woody the No. 1 toy. I'm happy my man Woody is tapping Bo Peep's ass again.

>when did the cracks first show?
Is this even up for debate? Cars is a lousy movie but it didn't matter because the toy merchandising sold like hotcakes.

>Make movie full of fantastic magical creatures
>The story is literally just a road trip
>unicorns are nothing but rats
>dragons are boring house pets
>no reference to the fact that this is a magical world other than the staff mcguffin
