is theresomething that doesn't suck compared to the past?
Besides technology (but not the use we are making of it), obviously

John Wick is good. Also every capeshit film is action, and they're all good.

CGI. It's that simple. Where they had to spend a ton of time planning practical effects properly so they looked real and dangerous, now they just film actors in front of a greenscreen waving their arms looking slightly bored. Then some intern shits a couple of procedurally generated collapsing buildings and stock explosions onto the film and the job's done.

this

Also don't forget to color grade the whole movie to look like shit, I can't believe I actually miss the bland tones of 1980s Eastmancolor film

John Wick is pure action with minimal d dialogue/plot and somehow hasn't fucked up after 3 movies.
What the fuck more do you want?

>Also every capeshit film is action, and they're all good.
>cgi cartoonish lightshow = good
They're all shit, fucking toddler

the Captain America movies were okay but the rest is shit
pretty much. I'd also argue that most movies today take themselves way too seriously, they also feel like products rather than the vision of the directors.

I just want to know why action movies today suck compared to the golden era of 1970-1999
