Budget Home Cinema Design

You have an empty 10' by 10' room with beige walls and a $1000 budget for your set-up. What are you going to come up with?

I'm gonna blow all it on coke and a gun to kill myself

Laptop. I've already got a bed.

why not just watch a movie?

JBL Studio 530 $300
Yamaha TSR-7810 $350
Sony XBR-49X800E Refurb $300

I pay some nigger a thousand dollars to steal me a sweet set-up from someone else

My backlog is too big. The only option left is to blow my brains out

This is the only right answer.

>$1000 budget
wtf
are you an underage third worlder who thinks that a lot of money? cant do shit with that. nothing decent at least.

>$1000

Cool I can get a TV and a chair

Use box tv comes in as a stand for it

this, give us a reasonable figure like $10,000 that way you can brainstorm more easily. I guess $1000 forces you to be creative with it but you're never going to get a decent system. A decent TV alone will cost you at least $1000. A 5.1 surround sound setup will set back another $1000. shit thread for underachievers.

>10' by 10'
That's right on the edge for a projector. You're probably better off with a TV but just in case: reddit.com/r/Zeos/comments/4t0z8d/guide_home_theater_projectors/

Blank wall, projector, three lazy boys

Done

-projector
-1x2” strips of wood for projector screen frame
-white sheet for projector screen
-5.1 surround sound system
-wiremold if no attic/sub ceiling access
-use my current PC or laptop for media player

Ez pz

>49"
awfully small for a home cinema

I'd pay that nigger to fuck your wife

$1000 is plenty. Research harder.
>A decent TV alone will cost you at least $1000.
craigslist bruh

There are many projectors with throws shorter than 10'. And there such things as ultra-short-throw projectors.

Grey > white for projectors

How do people not know this

Fucking her was already part of his salary. Why would a nigger give me equipment and furniture worth more than 1000 dollars for 1000 dollars?

Lease it until i have enough money to turn it into a home cinema.

I would look around until I could find a 92" DLP rear projection television. Mitsubishi made these in 2011 and for a year or two afterward. Looking at prices they went for about $900-1100 dollars used a couple of years ago, and I'm betting there are owners out there wanting to let go of theirs to upgrade to 4k OLED. I figure in the current market I could probably get the TV for $600.
>b-b-b-b-b-b-ut the RAINBOWS user
I don't care. I don't watch fast paced action movies, and a late generation DLP like this will have a 120mhz RGBRGB color wheel anyway, which has 1/4th the RBE of earlier generation DLPs anyway. It's a compromise I'm willing to put up with for the black levels and filmic quality that can get with DLP on slow-moving images. I want something that movies like Excalibur will look great on.

The television has built-in surround sound head unit functionality, so I'll spend another $100 on a set of 2.1 stereo speakers and subwoofer kit. The TV will serve the center channel.

My playback device would be a $40 Roku Premiere. Except not really because that's just there for convenience and normalfags. When I want to I can run a cable through the wall and connect my PC on the other side for 4k downscaled playback to get true 4:4:4 color subsampling and the best possible image. Of course I will pirate everything I can't get for free legally.

Black matte paint, dark curtains, and carpet are all diy'd for another $100. A dark colored sofa and a recliner from craigslist maybe another $100.

That's about $940. Finishing touch would be a set of decent headphones, and maybe a little black fridge for refreshments.

Umm yeah i didn't read that but i think you should kill yourself

Just remembered I'd be putting the TV on the damn floor. Use that sixty bucks left over for a TV stand.

They said it's a budget home cinema, as in, on a tight budget, as in, not a lot of money.

read it or gtfo of this thread

Don't do a projector, they always look so shitty in people's homes.

At that budget your best bet is lukring craigslist/facebook for someone dumping their old 1080p projectors after they upgrade to 4k.
Also your beige walls are garbage. Get super cheap ALR from carl's and literally staple it to your drywall if you have to. It really fucking helps.

I bought a 75 inch 4k lg oled tv off offer up for 500 bucks back in June. Bought a soundbar with Dolby atmos on clearance as well. Total was just under 1000 for a really decent setup.

>100$ 38 inch tv from walmart
>40$ tv stand
>40$ chair
>820$ on warhammer 40k figures

>nothing decent at least.
You could build something great a half dozen different ways.
>CRT projector
>screen
>air conditioner
>active noise canceling headphones
>lay-z-boy
All under $1000 to set up. The image would blow you away. You need the air conditioner and the headphones because in a 10' room a CRT projector will be very loud and hot. But if it were a garage or shed during the winter that wouldn't be an issue...

At this budget I agree. Without the good kind of screen materials, better projectors, and proper light management a projector is just not going to look as good as a direct view. Contrast probably wouldn't even be as good as an average LCD LED television.

Just get the biggest direct view you can. Unless you're insane and want to try a CRT projector.

Depending on your personality I might avoid a projector for the reason that you will spend all your time fiddling with it trying to get it just right. It's really easy to go down the home cinema rabbit hole and end up spending more time reading and posting online and messing about with settings and configurations than actually using your home cinema to watch movies.

Direct view is much, much, much easier to set up and just say "I'm DONE" and leave it that way for a long time and actually use it for media.

As long as sample and hold times remain completely egregious on every current panel technology I'll stick to the hassle of a projector.
24fps content looks like shit on oled and lcd's many derivatives. Whether it's nominally 72/96/120/(x mod 24 = 0) hz or not.

You're still going to have sample and hold with a LCD or LCoS projector.

biggest and best tv you can buy then jerry rig an audio setup using chinese amps and speakers you find at thrift stores(if you do this right it should cost you $30-$40 including subwoofer). Buy an android box if you don't already have one to play all your torrents from.

If I only had $1K and was going to attempt to get the most bang for my buck for the purposes of watching movies, I'd probably get most of the stuff preowned. Here's what I came up with:

$25 - Black paint + brush
$70 - New carpet (optional)
$50 - Loveseat*
$40 - Fabric to reuphostler depending on condition of the couch
~$500 - Half the budget on the nicest TV I can find, 4K UHD*
$40 - Sound Bar*
$40 - Black out curtains if there are any windows
$110 - 4pc furniture set as a coffee table, TV stand, and side tables for the couch*
$60 - A couple mounted movie posters*
$35 - LED Strip lights for that movie-theater feel
$30 - comfy blanket

*used

>~$500 - Half the budget on the nicest TV I can find, 4K UHD*
That would probably be a 65" TV. Little bit small for a home cinema, but to be honest with the rest of your set-up you're more likely to get other people to watch with you than with a 100" or bigger image. Normals are kind of weird about home cinemas and screen sizes and they prefer a certain level of comfy and casualness that doesn't come through with a super try-hard design. 65" is more familiar to them and feels like they can relax instead of being on tip-toes t not disturb the autists opinion of his weird movie room.

$200 jamo sound system

It's a 10x10 room. That's really not very big. You'll be sitting like, 8 1/2' away from the TV. 65" is plenty.

>tfw I can't decide if I should upgrade my 50" tv to a 65" or a 75" tv and if I should get an OLED or not

build 4 of these

Attached: Firefox_Screenshot_2019-11-27T21-01-09.002Z.png (719x5728, 575.76K)

Yeah but I mean for viewing distance.

Just setup my first digital ht 5.1 amp setup after decades on stereo.
Got the system for 100 bucks can't post because fellow ausfags got my iprange image banned.
Waiting for a good oled TV under 1k

$1000 is really small even for a budget cinema possible for a projector, a screen and some 7.1 speakers refurb. maybe even some nice seats

Size depends on the viewing distance(65" is more than enough for a bedroom or small living room), but OLED is a must have. The only tech that can truly compete with its PQ is MicroLED and that's several years away from being affordable.

>niggers ITT talking about small tvs and a soundbar
OP said home cinema, not a shitty living room setup

As I said I have a 5.1 but a small TV
Is 300 bucks for a used 65" too much? My 48" is ancient 1080p and bad burn in blb

It's about 9.5 ft, I definitely have a lot more buying options at 65"

ps4 pro
ps vr
some samsung 4k screen
good headphones
audio interface

You can find something sporting mirrors used pretty easily right now. Like I said, everyone's dumping old 1080p stuff and some of it was high end.

>4k downscaled playback to get true 4:4:4 color
u wut m8?

I thought they were gonna drop or break the tv

He also said $1000 budget, can't exactly get a quality laser projector and Polk surround sound system with that

Here's my setup and what i would consider the minimum for a set up that you WILL be happy with.
>whatever 4K TV 55" $500
>Fluance XL7F left, right, center $550
>Shitty Sony Reciever from the thrift $50
>Sony Blue Ray player X-700 or whatever its called $150

Total cost: worth it, dont skimp too much.

Attached: setup.jpg (1328x747, 296.99K)

>waste $150 on a bluray player
ok boomer

? For a 10x10 room you could have a 5.1 setup with a 42 inch tv, easy. With a room that size that's even overkill.

adding to this; If you go with bookend speakers you WILL NEED a subwoofer. I say fuck it and just get the tower speakers as long as they have decent subs in them too. You NEED a center speaker. Ever get frustrated that the action scenes are too loud and the dialogue scenes are too quiet? Center speaker will make that a memory. I went with a super cheap reciever and this shit still booms and impresses everyone so maybe recievers are a meme, but just make sure it can be programmed to send the correct signals to the correct speakers. After that just make sure everything is 4k compatible and dont stress about surround sound.

well i'm not going to be like my brother and buy one of those faggy consoles that sound like jetpacks while i'm watching my kino.

You don't need to spend anywhere near that much on speakers. You don't need to buy a blu-ray player at all.
55" is too small to qualify for a home cinema.

horrifying webm there mate.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chroma_subsampling

Basic gist is to get the most out of a 1080p TV in the real world you need a 4k source to work with.

>You don't need to spend anywhere near that much on speakers.
I pity you cave dweller.

Attached: plato-cave.jpg (567x309, 90.95K)

You don't. There are good speakers on the used market to put together a system with. Look around, think creatively. Speakers are some of the most common pieces of technology on the planet, you can find top of the line stuff for pennies if you actually try and don't allow yourself to become a silly audiophile believing in spooks.

>used market
You dumb faggot. OF COURSE there is always a deal to be found. what kind of fucking moron are you? In OP's case, he can take the suggestion of the Fluance XL7F model, and just tour craigslist/thrifts until he finds it for half the price. I'm just giving him a starting point you knucklehead.
