Suicide attempts, psychotic episodes, manic episodes are the big ones.
Most suicide holds are pretty short though. They try to stabilize you and ship you out the door after a couple days, in order to stay longer you basically have to be so dead-set on killing yourself ASAP that the doctors believe you'll just jump in front of the next bus in front of the hospital if they let you out.
