What exactly was Budds power level?

What exactly was Budds power level?

Was rewatching Kill Bill and I noticed on my second viewing that out of all the vipers, Budd was the only one that B tried to use stealth and ambush. All others vipers she just walked right up to and faced head on but not with Budd. And he still beat her.

he knew Bea would break out of the coffin right?
he could easily bail with the million dollars and if anyone ever confronts him about it he could just be like "oh well I buried her alive it seemed appropriate"
I'm just basing this off the fact he seemed like the most sympathetic towards her but idk

>first movie: beautifully shot action
>second movie: people sitting around talking in gross grimey locations
what happened?

Of course he knew, why do you think he gave her the flashlight? If he really wanted her dead he could have just killed her.

my names Buck

First one is an Asian action movie homage, the second one is Leone type western.

He put her in the coffin because she broke her brother's heart. He knew what he did at the wedding was wrong so he probably was going to disappear with the money and let the chips lie where they fall.

By the way, the fight scene in the trailer culminating in the eye rip was one of the best things Tarantino made until he topped them all with the opening and bar scenes from IB.

>the fight scene in the trailer culminating in the eye rip
she deserved it but it was still a very fucked up predicament

He's a man.

Over 6000000

He had the highest power level. He beat Beatrix without even trying and could have killed her if he'd wanted to.

Budd was Bosley. Compare whatever Bosley did in the field with the Angels to whatever Budd did with the other Deadly Vipers.

he gave beatrix a fair shot by burying her alive with a flashlight.
its consistent with his kinda twisted personality, being a browbeaten bouncer at a shitty bar, while at the same time being capable of murdering every single one.
he's depressed because assassin shit wasn't good for his karma and what not. At the same time, he is still his old self.

so he treats beatrix rudely and with respect at the same time, and fucks with the one eyed bitch the same way.

And I’m here to party

The porn was crippling him.

He was the most competent but he also was the most guilt ridden over what he had done so he didn't really care if someone killed him.

The whole thing is a western. Japan was a stand on for facing a band of Indians in Indian territory

rowl

Budd seemed like he wanted to die. He was obviously suffering from some serious depression. Bill should had shown up with a psychiatrist.

I got the impression Bea was more frightened of Budd than anyone else under Bill's sway. Budd had been gifted a Hanzo blade by Bill, who didn't gift anyone else one. Budd had to be taken down by treachery because he probably could have killed all the others in a straight fight.

Budd did nothing wrong

He was the most powerful one because he was the only one with soul.

>womyn try-hards trying to show they're hard and the best out of the bunch
>Budd know's he's a piece of shit and simply takes care of business

he defeated B and probably did it with a few beers in him

Will we survive Coronapocalypse?

>>Hey Buddy, hah get it? mind if I bite in?

Am I fucked if he is my favorite character not only in Kill Bill, but in QT's entire filmography?

Nope, perfectly all right to be you fav character in all of QT's films.

Actually, it might be a tie between him and Max Cherry from Jackie Brown. Guess I'm drawn to old, beaten down white guys played by cool-as-ice actors. RIP Forster.

the second film had a massive homage to fists of the white lotus though

Out of all the vipers he was the only one to show sympathy and have a character beyond super antagonist. And he was the only one who could have actually killed her. Makes sense since hes Bill's brother.

Please fart on my face

Reminder that Kurosawa was the real director of For A Fistful of Dollars (aka Yojimbo).

I loved this guy in Trailer Park Boys.

HOLY KEK

honestly, agreed. that trailer sword fight scene was really well done. the whole aspect of fighting in close quarters in some bum's trailer was cool. gross when she flings bud's chew spit

will i

Did Ray ever wear a cowboy hat?

Arguably the best. He just seems like a dirty cowboy but he's by far the simplest. Like you said, he's the only one of the Vipers she took any caution with, and that ended up useless as he just sat in a chair and blasted her with a shotgun. He even had a specialized sword, too, he just didn't care about it.

It's the old classic of seemingly-shitty guy is actually super powerful, like how Cody is somehow a match to Akuma.

Not at all. As a character he's one of the most down-to-earth in not just the movie but in all of Tarantino's movies. Unlike most of the characters he doesn't have a massive ego or complex or excuses what they did. Like the other user said, he knows full well what they did was wrong, and he knows he's just trash, and wants to live in a basic trailer and work at a strip joint. He knows all of that and doesn't act like he's beyond it on some moral or philosophical level, he just wants to live in quiet. The real tragedy of the film is him getting killed off by that snake.

The eye rip started as just a gag between Uma and Daryl, after laughing his ass off about it, Quentin added it to the scene/script.

I'll have to rewatch everything to be sure, I'll get back to you.

Kurosawa based Yojimbo on Dashiell Hammet novel Red Harvest, but Leone ripped off the script beat for beat from Yojimbo. Nevertheless, he told the story in his own very distinguishable style, so as a director you can't fault him.

This is mostly head canon. Tarantino doesn't give much to work with to get inside the character's head, and doesn't spoonfeed you his whole story - just that there's a falling out between him and Bill, lied about selling his sword, and for whatever reasons has chosen to drink himself to death in a decrepit trailer, plunging stripper turds to pay the bills.
The reason you like Budd, is Madsen. He's charismatic as hell, and brings it all to the character. He could sit and read a grocery list, and you'd watch. Tarantino makes you invest in him, because you don't see him in his prior life as a paid killer, you see a broken down man taking shit from a creepy strip club owner, who he could reach over and snap the neck of without breathing hard.
That's what Tarantino does - he gives you just enough to invest in a character, and lets you fill in the blanks with your head. Budd is his best example of it - and cast it with an actor who is so charismatic, you're drawn in. Like the another user said, Max Cherry was another one.

>We will never get an anime style introduction to Budd in his prime like we did with O-Ren

First also had the better soundtrack.

Can I have some of your lobster?

madsen did commentary for Budd

youtube.com/watch?v=kXzsSoIULLw&

Part 1 is his commentary on Mr Blonde

>By the way, the fight scene in the trailer culminating in the eye rip was one of the best things Tarantino made
i was drunk when i watched that and it felt really striking

What was Tarantino riffing on with the trailer fight? Raising Arizona and . . . . ?

>Death Rides a Horse kicks in
I'll grant you part 1 got the motherfuckin blood pumping.

>Bitch...you don't have a future.
I had to go back and watch this and did so 3 times. It's just so well executed, every line of dialogue, facial expression, act of violence, musical note, etc. I've come to appreciate these movies more over the years, but I'm also appreciating Uma's performance a lot more, too.

Budd lived. He was fully aware of the snake and B’s escape and he spiked his drink with antivenin and faked death. He knew it was the only way to get Kiddo to leave him alone. I thought this was common knowledge.

Yeah, now that you bring that up that does fit.

I fucking love kill bill

Can you share yer lobster recipe?

same

i do too

Based on what evidence?

Do I have a chance with her

Bummer, bro.

>he actually watches Kill Bill as two separate movies instead of the saperstein kino edit
