Let's discuss the Ginger Snaps franchise. The first two are some of the most quintessential cult horror movie of the early 2000s, the third one is a bit shit. Thoughts?
Let's discuss the Ginger Snaps franchise...
First
Its shit
>The first two are some of the most quintessential cult horror movie of the early 2000s, the third one is a bit shit.
I think that basically sums it up
People said last grid had too many profile shots so I tried something different here.
Yeah I think this one is much better in that regard. Thought it's a shame the movie is so dark some of the shots don't show up well in b&w
yay, Sunday comfyness... and I'm spending it studying for my final assessment
contrast could be higher, but I dig it
Based
legit had never seen or heard anyone mention this movie in my life until I came on this board.
>free streaming
Alright you fuck. I'm gonna finally watch this and I bet it's going to ruin my fucking day.
It actually might, but I bet it's not in the way you expect it to.
>putting ginger snaps general in the center instead of the titlecard
This triggers me please rectify.
Don't worry, the actual title is intact.
Do you really need a thread to discuss this movie every day? This seems like it's going beyond simple film discussion and moving into the realm of banal circlejerk.
Well the way I expect it to is making me want to go back to 2000 and have a qt gf.
I've avoided watching this movie (and the Craft) because of that
Based.
Although how come you did this one b&w instead of colour like the first one.
I thought the first was fine personally.
Yes, because the threads have been expanding scope. Besides the movies themselves we also discuss influences, recommend movies with similar themes, music, etc. We've been digging into the commentary tracks lately. The scripts are still unexplored territory, I just skimmed through em a bit so there's definitely still a shit ton to talk about there.
Problem is we keep getting derailed with meta posts about the threads themselves.
I did both for the first one. Decided to just stick to black and white for this one.
assessment for what
>Decided to just stick to black and white for this one.
Not a fan of the Une Ginger s'est Eschnappe (1956) aesthetic?
So in the last (hate) thread, pic related was posted and someone said she adopted two kids and had two biological kids.
>gives two unfortunate kids who have nothing a home and a loving family whilst still ensuring her perfect genes carry on
Just when you think she can't get any more perfect.
i can't wait for October, love getting in the Fall/Halloween mood and etching GS
I am not.
watching*
it's a course I've been doing at work. not very exciting stuff, but it might look nice in my CV one day
Fawcett teased something for the 20th anniversary which is coming up soon. Maybe a director's cut bluray? Maybe a new commentary track by the girls? Might be literally nothing, but I'm pretty hyped anyway.
Also watched the Fly today, because apparently it was a pretty major influence with the body horror aspect of GS. It was ok, I really loved the transformation scene. But fuck did it make me appreciate the dialogue in GS a lot more. The dialogue in the Fly was so dry and by the numbers you're literally just watching for the sfx.
>Fawcett teased something for the 20th anniversary
He did?
I love how she looks in brighter colors
>Maybe a director's cut bluray?
unfortunately it's more up to the distributors and whoever's holding the rights at the moment than Fawcett
she seems absurdly nice, if she was a fictional character (especially in a world similar to GS) there would be a deep dark secret there, that's for sure.
Does Fawcett not have the rights?? Or are distributing rights separate?
Please be something good.
not sure how much of it is his IP anymore. him and Karen both have producer credits on the sequels IIRC, but a lot of things might have changed since then. that's not to say he couldn't pull off something really good for the anniversary, but a brand new release isn't something that would be exclusively up to him
>GS1 ends with corpse of a drug dealer in the basement and a giant werewolf corpse in bedroom, blood from both of them is splashed everywhere
>Investigators would have found all of this and discovered solid proof that werewolves exist
>None of it is addressed in GS2
what would you do in this situation if you were Sam?
The government/powers that be cover up the existence of werewolves. They've been in Canada since at least the early 1800s but nobody in the films knows they exist.
I'm sorry, user.
You already know
Based.
My only critique now would be that 3x3 feels a little restrictive, when it comes to kinogrids I feel 5x5 is a better format.
But I don't want to come off as too demanding or anything. I appreciate all the work you've done in making them. I'm glad we now have them.
>The government/powers that be cover up the existence of werewolves.
Is this ever actually stated in any film? As far as I know nobody is actively covering anything up.
They wanted to burn the house down originally at the end, but ran out of budget. Then when filming they were actually glad, because that ending shot of Brigitte hugging dying Ginger was perfect. So I always headcanon it as the house burning down.
I don't think I'd have enough material for a 5x5 cause a lot of the movie's cinematography is self-referential, i.e. Brigitte lying behind Ghost near the end in the same way as Ging at the start. Which is cool when you're watching the movie, but it'd look repetitive in a grid. Ended up skipping only a couple of shots I wanted in there.
is it ever mentioned (in a script or commentary) what happened to the corpse Sam ran over?
No it's headcanon but I stand by it firmly
Ah yeah, good point.
Haven't listened to Karen's commentary yet. Fawcett doesn't mention it. The final script doesn't as far as I've read it (past Trina's death). Didn't read the 96 one.
Katharine is my future wife!
back off
I need a good Ginger Snaps related username but I'm not creative at all. Pls help.
OutBy16OrDeadOnTheScene
You mean a tripcode or for something else?
>that shot of the two of them in the principal's office in b&w
k i n o
Hmmm...cumbuckety_datebait, human_circumcized_dick, gingers_hairy_chest
Not bad. Might use one of these. Ty.
For a video game I play far too often.
ah ok i was gonna say. last thing we need is tripfags (first song in trailer user is cool tho)
I love when the sisters are together. Favorite parts of all 3 movies are scenes with both Fitzgeralds
saved
I always heard it as "dead on the scene" too but it turns out it's supposed to be "dead in this scene". It makes less sense, I guess it's supposed to imply they've been doing the fake death photography stuff for a long time.
A few weeks ago the words "ginger snaps" had never been typed on this fucking board.
Now there are multiple threads spammed on a daily fucking basis.
What the fuck is this shit?
hormonal_toilet
Me on the left.
Are you the ESLfag from yesterday who was like "THAT'S NOT THREE YEARS!" even though the post had specifically said "nearly three years"?
Uh-huh. Keep scrolling, bitch.
Fascinating. It has this weird snuff film vibe.
the original GS poster started in 2017 and the threads were basically just meme threads for a couple years until more people on here actually watched the movies and we just started talking about them more and filling up threads. We do one thread a day so if you think that's spam then grats on your first day on Yas Forums
>2010 was 10 years ago
>she'll never drive you to the liquor store
