Well I don't know if that's true because I'm worried about the coronavirus. They said it was just a flu, that it was only in China, but every day I hear of more and more cases, more and more deaths, it's spreading more and more in the US. People are in denial but it's getting worse and worse.

I loved the film overall, but hated this line. It was indeed really too self-conscious. I think it's possible to just rewrite it to get the point across without being so obvious about it.

It's odd because the film otherwise has pretty solid dialogue, but it's like this particular line was specifically written to have a "quotable" line that school shooters would put in their manifestos. It's kind of fucked up.
It depends on the severity of the mental illness. Mental illness is a broad category that means nothing more than "big range of patterns of culturally unacceptable behaviors that (in most cases) can't be legally punished".
I've known schizophrenic people who are lucid enough to understand that they are mentally ill and to recognize when they're on an unwelcome head trip. There are also bipolar and depressed people who will be very open about calling it a "mental illness".
Shit like ADHD/ADD, OCD, and other learning disabilities, however, are more context-dependent. Someone with ADHD might be a great football player, which is a context where no one will see them as mentally ill. However, if they act out in class because they're bored it will be seen as acting crazy or loopy by the authority figures they have to interact with.

There was literally a scene where he was watching old Murray episodes planning what he was going to do and what he was going to say.
Did you miss the part where what he did and said were completely different from that. He went off the rails once he got there.
It doesn't really matter how it was supposed to sound or any in-universe reason for why it would be acceptable for him to say it. It just sounded off to me and took me out of the film for a bit at its very climax. It didn't ruin the film, I loved it. But there is no need to justify its weak points.

Swine flu killed nearly 17,000 americans and over 500,000 worldwide. Coronavirus has much lower numbers at 11 Americans and what? 3-4 thousand worldwide so far? It also seems far less deadly with a much higher survival rate.
Caronavirus is basically being sensationalized by news media to get clicks. My news feed, for example, had something like 9 coronavirus fluff pieces (how to wash your hands, how to tell if you have it, what to do, etc) a small handful of actual news stories related to the topic (literally 2, one mentioning to total death toll and another saying 1 American died from it on that particular day) and 1 non coronavirus news story.

A majority of mentally I'll people have some idea something is off about them, but very few openly admit it. Most don't realize the extent of their problems and lots of them don't even realise anything is wrong at all. In all honesty, a mentally ill person will often think themselves to be perfectly sane.

It really depends on the individual. Most mentally ill people are aware that there is something wrong with them (even if they don't know what it is specifically) but whether they'll call themselves such is like if someone would call themselves sick if they have a minor cold.

Well coronavirus has two things that amplify the hell out of it. First, it came at the perfect time to pacify the masses. When distrust of systems was at a peak and we watched the most divisive president get off without a single witness called, the ones that run things needed a distraction. Even better if they could get one that scares people and makes them look to daddy government for guidance. Coronavirus fit like a glove there.
And two, it is killing pretty much exclusively baby boomers. The only group that votes in big numbers, owns stock, owns property, and fills every non-wagie job. They need us to buffer them from dying. When kids and young people get it it's a mild cold for a few days. It's not killing any of them. But boomers drop. So once again the powers that be need to convince us to protect them. And people are swallowing that bullshit too.
