A near-perfect subversion of genre tropes with enough symbolism and subtext to inspire decades' worth of analytical writing and literature. A textbook example of the capability of genre film to, when placed in the right hands, transcend the inbuilt limitations of its form and ascend to a higher level. Suburban gothic. David Cronenberg coming of age. A decade-defining cult classic. Let's discuss.
Question: what's the song playing in the scene where Ginger has her way with McCardy?

once I was asking around in one of he OG wasted years threads if anyone knew the song and it lead to a comfy discussion about the soundtrack in general. back than the handful of regulars all had some kind of gimmick or quirk you could instantly recognize them by, so after that thread I started to namefag in order to have a thing of my own. still use it when posting about GS as a tribute, I guess.
Not by design, more so by how extremely successful it was at conveying the feel of the times. I imagine the remake as something deliberately working within an exaggerated 90s environment. Like Gregg Araki's films. The remake soundtrack would largely revolve around the goth rock, shoegaze and industrial rock/metal of the time, with occasional nods to the lo-fi DIY rock and extreme metal that was coming out at the time.

Like all parties I went too, I'd have to have pre drinks at someone I knows house so that I'm too intoxicated to care

Reminder that Katharine will be my wife. Maybe I'll post our wedding pics in these threads someday.

Based. Some of the fondest memories of my party-going years are all of me going in the back of their garden/their apartment building to throw up only so I could go back inside and keep drinking.
A bit obvious, but they'd definitely be on the soundtrack.

None. The Junxie XL songs alone were perfect.

this licensed 90s music remake idea sounds awful
some Suicide Squad shit where you get a licensed song every 2 minutes without rhyme or reason, member THAT song/band? there's a reason Fawcett avoided pop culture bullshit in the movie
It could be done tastefully if you weren't constantly getting bombarded by songs and band posters and shit. Music, even licensed music getting played during key scenes helped elevate many movies before. And come on, it would be perfectly appropriate for maladjusted, lonely teenagers like Brigitte and Ginger to find solace in The Cure and Type O Negative.
user is using British spellings and it's nearly 2 AM here, I should hope he didn't get out of work this late

I'm Australian, just busy doing housework but I have a question for the thread. If you could add one scene to the movie, deleted scene or one that you made up, what would you chose? For me I would add more eerie exploration scenes when Brigitte is walking through the school.
