Is Snowpiercer really that bad? I've been planning on seeing it since I heard SleepyCast talking about it.

This. It's by far the most dishonest film I've ever seen. And I mean that unironically. It uses underhanded dishonest tactics to try and garner sympathy for imaginary animals that are supposed to represent real live-stock. They didn't use real live-stock because pigs (despite how smart they're memed to be) and cows are dumb as fuck so the audience wouldn't care about/believe their struggles

Nah it's pretty good. No masterpiece, but worth watching. It's basically 300 but on a train with subtext about political participation and very tenuously about climate change.

I don't get why some people think the movie anti-upper class. Almost all the poor people are displayed as dishonest, stupid, lazy, manipulative, cowardly and SMELLY.
The rich family were mostly normal people with their own problems and weird quirks.

If anything the movie was pretty honest about the reality that a lot of poor people are just really fucking dumb.

I think it's ironic that at the end she has able to use the Gold pig, bought for her by her grandfather using the money he receiving raising the pig, to purchase it. For such a anti-capitalist it was a cop out. I do agree it was an extremely dishonest film.

A lot of movies depend on suspension of disbelief but Snowpiercer's premise is so fucking stupid that it's nearly impossible to ignore and focus on the narrative

IIRC in the comics it's explained that all the people in the back forced their way on the train by emptying the storage cars in the back and fucking up provisions for the rest of the train, so they're kept there out of spite for what they did moreso than just being outright poor. Of course omitting that in the film just makes the ruling class seem needlessly cruel and affluent.

Snowpiercer was not about "rich people bad" because at the end there was a giant twist. It is one of my favorite movies. Okja is so boring, I saw it in like 15 min jumping scenes because I could not see the whole movie.
