Why doesn't China make interesting films?
Why doesn't China make interesting films?
Parasite was pretty good
Wulan
>libtard ch*ink apologist answer
because their oppressive government suppresses free expression
>reality
because they are an insect like people with no souls or creativity
Raise the Red Lantern was pretty good, but it's an exception to the norm. Most of their films are trash for the reasons stated in
try this
Wait a minute, that square...
From 200X+ the industry go fully private.
those answers are one and the same
The quote alone gives me reason to never watch that.
your loss
though I'd definitely prefer if quotes on movie posters could fuck off in general.
you mean his win...
no...
Chinks have no culture aside from consuming they are literally the best of goys.
This applies to most asian cultures but in China especially your status depends how much you can show your wealth off.
original thought is necessary for interesting art. thats why american movies are dying and being reborn as capeshit themeparks
real life provides all the drama and shock they need
Pure Reddit opinion. China bad is your favorite hive mind meme.
Soviets produced a lot of kino, so your argument holds no ground.
I’ll skullfuck your mother in front of you you retarded soinigger.
Both of these are true. It’s to be expected when you have such a high population.
I think your confusing soviet with Stalin-era
+5 points have been added to your social credit score
I think you might actually be retarded.
chinese culture doesn't exist anymore
I would burn the entirety of hollywood's archives and kill every living american "artist" to see even the trailer to a new Jia Zhangke movie. So you're wrong.
not at all, Russia has produced a lot of worthwhile art over the centuries despite almost always having an oppressive government suppressing free expression. russians are deeply artistic people though, while chinks are not. he's complete right
China is in fact bad
It never did. It's all about Han culture
The statement still stands. You in fact need oppressive government and insect like people to stifle creativity. For Russians you had the former but not the latter. And even insect are creative since they lack the total oppressive government that China has.
China being such a big country, it would be ridiculous to think it has no good cinema...
These are good Chinese cinema (Max one film from one director, so if you like the film check the director out)
> Elephant Sitting Still
> Crosscurrent
> Devils on the Doorstep
> Pickpocket
> Oxhide
> Suzhou River
> Kaili Blues
> The Goddess
> Spring in a Small Town (I actually think this film kinda sucks but love some of his other films)
>East Palace, West Palace
>The Blue Kite
> Raise the Red Lantern
> Mad World
> Yellow Earth
> Street Angel
> Black Coal, Thin Ice
> Blind Mountain
> Youth
> The Family
> Jinpa
> City of Life and Death
> Routine Holiday
> Dead Souls
> Behemoth
> Peacock
> Crazy Stone
> Fish and Elephant
> Bumming in Beijing
> Xiu Xiu
And that's really just the tip. But yes, for a country so big, I guess they should have more good films but if you think they have none, you probably don't know too much about film in general.
that's what we were both saying.
Imagine thinking this thread is about movies lmaoo
All of those suck, I've never heard about any of them.
Was tankman the most based madlad in history?
unexpectedly based answer
I might watch some of these
> Dead Souls
got anything to do with the Gogol book of the same name?
>Black Coal, Thin Ice
This one sucks. Typical 21st century "contemplative" pap. Festival fluff at best.
Insectoid mandibles typed this post.
You're a pleb, there's plenty of decent chink film
Haven't read it but my guess is probably not. Its a Wang Bing flick though so it might share the same long prose/poetic structure. Pretty famous Chinese slow cinema documentary director. Dead Souls is paticularly bleak because its about "re-education"/concentration camps in the Gobi Desert.
Well, tons of Western festival fluff is celebrated, not sure what your point is...
>Well, tons of Western festival fluff is celebrated
What's YOUR point? That you know it's bad but think it's good because "western" films are also bad but are thought to be good?(???) Get your head straight, lad.
My point is that it sucks and what's considered art in the 21st century is actually just stale and amateurish.
Raise your standards.
Jesus christ why are you so mad lol. The absolute state of
kek
Because China is a gook hole.
Pass
yeah so nothing about the book at all. the book's a satire of russian landowners and is about a guy that goes around buying dead serfs that are still on government records
What's wrong? Can't defend your shit taste?
Joke
Creativity is discouraged. Being interested in the arts is considered a waste of time.
Fun fact: Chinese people feel good being in a big crowd or a long line. They enjoy the feeling, compared to a westerner who is moments away from going on a rampage.
Asians have a limited sense of the aesthetic and symbolic forms. In general, whites dominate aesthetically, and jews dominate in symbolism. Both are the main tools for producing good film.
I'm not going to raise my standards unless you can honestly tell me you actually hate every single film I listed.
I can love films like The Craft and films like Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania and then something like Zombi Child (this is my example of western film festival fluff) and recommend them all to anyone interested.
The world isn't black and white, just cause I like stuff that has "less artistic merit" doesn't mean I can't tell people that I like it and its a good film.
I'll read the book. Thanks for the recommendation, looks interesting.
There's lots of good Chinese films on liveleak
>t. seething chang
I know a few Chinese kinos if you count Taiwan.
They will in maybe another decade when their entertainment industry has developed more and Hollywood pandering has become a dead trend.
I'm not even that guy you fuming schizo caucasoid
Hong Kong does, or at least it did before the PRC rolled into town to ruin the place.
when the communist regime finally dies china will literally burst with artistically interesting shit, we just have to wait
I think my favorite thing about China is they are able to piss off the left by not giving a shit about muslims or muh human rights while pissing off the right at the same time by having their ideal ethnostate but not for white people. Thank god for the master race Han Chinese
Asians in general are not creative and fall in line. its also why they invented almost nothing throughout human history compared to Europeans despite being more intelligent.
Hong kong is a cucked state of mind broken slave chinks. China is the only thing keeping hong kong relevent. This aint the 80s no more.
>just cause I like stuff that has "less artistic merit" doesn't mean I can't tell people that I like it and its a good film.
So you agree that Black Coal, Thin Ice has little artistic merit? This thread isn't about what you like, it's whether interesting films come out of China. Black Coal, Thin Ice is a bad defense as we both now agree it's stale and artistically void. I say that it's therefor uninteresting while you don't seem to disagree, you just wanted us to know that you have low standards for what you enjoy.
Glad we're on the same page.
But go ahead and keep naming films. That sure proves... something.
China is the future of capitalism you dumb soi. China is your future.
ash is purest white and the wild goose lake were both better than this
Artistic/creative shit happens with capitalism. The CCP has nothing to do with it. China just needs more time to develop.
>those answers are one and the sam
>For Russians you had the former but not the latter
>The statement still stands
are you genuinely below 90 IQ?
"No."
Chinkino:
Election 1/2
Chasing the Dragon
Sha Po Lang
Infernal Affairs (the original Departed)
Hard Boiled
Young and Dangerous series
The Last Tycoon
These are mostly triad movies
reminder that juggalo makeup defeats facial recognition technology
The CCP literally only wants people to not make their image look bad. That's it. So I don't understand how that would prevent the general Chinese population from being creative as long as it's not political.
