To me Casino (Martin Scorsese) is a more enjoyable film than Goodfellas (Martin Scorsese). The setting and history of Casino (Martin Scorsese) is much more interesting and the main character of Casino (Martin Scorsese) being played by Robert De Niro instead of Ray Liotta in Goodfellas (Martin Scorsese) makes Casino (Martin Scorsese) to me a more enjoyable film.

Casino by a wide margin. I saw Goodfellas for the first time the other week and I'm totally convinced anyone who thinks it's any iota better than Casino is a fucking troglodyte.

I think Casino is probably a better film but God damn I can't stop rewatching goodfellas. I think DeNiro is better in Goodfellas.

For me I never made it through once upon a time in America. Casino is a pleb filter and the only bad scene is probably the title sequence

Casino is an drama epic with a turbulent pace which unfortunately is at the price of the characters' intrigue and whatever appeal they could have had though it still managed to keep you invested. Goodfellas wins by being character driven alone which has always been far more interesting in films than any other factor. I love them both but Goodfellas has more "soul".

I've wondered if there isn't an east vs west split between casino or goodfellas. I liked both, but prefer casino and am from the west. goodfellas is cool but it doesn't resonate as much with me and I have to wonder if it's because i'm not as familiar with the east

marty was part of the new hollywood movement which launched cinema into the modes of production as a valuable commodity so it may be that this particular style or structural format was an adoption of the newly constructed formula that studios had officiated into the praxis of film production. it isn't that they're not "real cinema" but a departure from an accepted and industrial dominated approach into a metamorphosis of the social forces that dictate that very transformation.
