Is there ANY other movie with an ACTUAL antihero like Plissken in Escape from L.A?
Actions may include:
>letting companions die intentionally >playing every side >only pursuing own intentions >morally extremely questionable behaviour
Riddick was close in Pitch Black but ultimately saves his companions. Max in Road Warrior does it only for the first third of the movie. Eastwood in Unforgiven also comes around because he him helpign the whores is the entire premise of the movie to begin with . So where the fuck are the true anti heroes?
>Escape from L.A Escape from NY user, the second one never happened. Dont ever refer to it again.
Jaxson Kelly
johnny depp when hes a spook in mexico
James Thomas
Escape from L.A. is way superior.
Dylan Evans
That movie is utter shit tho.
Carter Watson
Lockout (2012) is the obvious choice. It's similar enough that Carpenter sued them for plagiarism and somehow won.
Nolan Miller
Its escape NY not LA you silly 90s kid. Hes a total retard in LA
Colton Butler
whats that got to do with the price of fish?
Jose Brooks
Clint eastwood
William Ramirez

Eli Hall

Aaron Diaz
>being this autistic The name's in the post you fucking retard.
Isaac Baker
Lol no
Nathaniel Cox
Eastwoods character was just there for money though. While I'm sure he respected the whore and felt bad for her he had a ton of sympathy for the 2 people he was hunting so I doubt that revenge was his motive. The only thing he doesnt do for money is killing the sheriff and his deputies, probably the most morally questionable thing in the movie.
Hudson Myers
What’s it like to be illiterate?
John Price
ALSO... he doesn't know what to do at one point and just sits down on a chair. This NEVER happens in other movies. Love that
I literally fight every retard who prefers NY over LA. Yes, LA.
LA is so fucking incredible timeless now its not even funny.
1. NY looks and feels dated as fuck, LA is actually fresh as fuck, saw it last week 2. LA is a fully realized post-apocalypse. America is on the brink and done, LA is a fallout-esque shithole. Its dirty, grand, has even the classic post-apoc factions. 3. Its a stellar action movie satire, with qzotes and scenes referencing Hollywood bloxkbusters and stereotypes CONSTANTLY 4. Plissken is the coolest and most chaotic neutral motherfucker ever walking the earth. When he says "You better pray not seeing me again" he actually means it 5. If this want enough, the bleak yet satisfying ending is something of a 70s scifi wet dream

James Clark
Damn your post is blessed by dubs of truth gonna go check this movie out now
Christian Peterson
Robin Hood in the original story at least.
John Powell
the art of film making died after the 80s late 90s films are made for TV garbage Barb Wire is vastly more entertaining than Escape LA. Both 1996 peak 90s schlock
It is just a Borderlands syndrome - even though sequel is superior in every single way imaginable, but there is just that tiny little something in the atmosphere and immersion that makes some people like the original more. It's the same case for the Mad Max series.
Nicholas Diaz
>he hasnt watched Escape From L.A.
This is a film board, right?
Wyatt Davis
Yojimbo. The main character kind of lightens up for the sequel though.
Also the spaghetti Westerns typically have relatively amoral protagonists. Remember, at the beginning of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly the man with no name is running a scam with a bandit known for rape and murder and he later goes on to betray said bandit.
Because the original had an ORIGINAL idea. Why the fuck do you think every Alien movie is worse thn the one before? Not saying Aliens is bad, its a timeless classic. But the original Alien is landmark movie.
Blondie and Tuco STILL have a moral code. They fuck each other but they help others.
Thats why began to hate spaghetti westerns, they try so ahrd but fail at that last mile. Frustrating.
Christopher Mitchell
Is Barb Wire actually worth a watch?
Easton Thompson
Well, if you want movies with absolutely irredeemable protagonists you could try A Clockwork Orange. Alex is decidedly the protagonist and is portrayed as the "hero" of the film but he's a massive asshole who does horrid acts because he enjoys them.
Not exactly what im looking for. Same with Bronson. Its character studies.
Matthew Wood
I used to think EFLA was worse than EFNY, but then I realized that EFLA was more entertaining. That doesn't mean that EFNY isn't entertaining.
Andrew Jenkins
EFLA is parody of the first.
Ian Moore
>Escape from NY >Escape from LA >The Thing >Big Trouble Is there a more BASED combo that John Carpenter and Kurt Russell? Those 4 films are right up there among my favourites of all time
I like NY and LA equally. Whenever I play in a sci-fi table top, I play Plissken, In Space! Hell of a lot of fun putting your cigarettes out in peoples drinks.
Fincher hates Alien3 and its his third best movie lol
Directors are not in a position to judge.
Adam Williams
>Is Barb Wire actually worth a watch? nta but I watched it for the first time last year and loved it. Pam Anderson was in her post-wall, just-got-married-to-this-STD-repository, silicone-is-stronger-than-flesh stage. The perfect actress to play a trashy action bimbo.
Nicholas Ortiz
I'm right there with you defending LA, it's crazy underrated
But shitting on NY to aid your cause just makes you look retarded, it's still the superior movie by far
Michael Rivera
Many people who voice their dislike for LA do so because they've been told to think that way.
Gavin Reed
LA is a based as fuck film for how balls to the wall crazy it is, but come on, NY is in a different league. Both are legendary films though.
