Paths of Glory was good.

You are correct

Is there any other film by Renoir worth watching that isn't The Rules of the Game or The Grand Illusion?

Anyone got a working link for Husbands by Cassavetes? Rarbg doesn't have it, yify straight up doesn't work for me anymore, and TPB has little to no seeders on it.

Is he really the most influential director of all time?

Yeah

This Land is Mine is the name of the one I really like I believe. It has Charles Laughton as a meek French teacher during the German occupation.

Nice digits
And most of his films are worth watching he’s one of the all-time greats bro

With a 90.2% score on the Czech and Slovak Movie Database[3] as well as praise from movie critics, The Cremator is often considered to be one of the best movies ever made in Czechoslovakia. will give it a shot now at cytu dot be/r/tv4c

You should do Godard's Weekend this weekend

No that's Gallo

These threads are DREADFUL during American hours

You think Kubick reached his level of influence?

What are some good films to study cinematography/blocking?

Gallo is incredible.

What should I watch if I liked Days of Heaven and I want to watch kinos about farmers or frontier types in the midwest/west

Legends of the Fall or A River Runs Through It any good?

Thanks fren.

Deliverance

no

Godard's 80s output is criminally underrated.

I'd love to know how they shot all the locust scenes? I mean when the main dude is trying to kill them with his coat they are EVERYWHERE. Can you control those SOB or you just sacrifice a whole lot of crops for a few shots??

He was relentlessly handsome.

The locusts were peanut shells, amigo.

i’ve been kind of obsessed with Last Tango in Paris lately can anyone here recommend similar films?

Honest thoughts?

genuinely the most important figure in modern film and there's nothing that will convince me otherwise :^)

I like how he's involved in every technical aspect of his movies.

I would wait a few more months for when Criterion’s Blu-Ray comes on. Someone will release a really nice looking HD torrent.

His post-70s work is mostly negligible but he's still a master of his craft.

What's your favorite Howard Hawks film?

Sounds like the average thread on the Criterion subreddit. No discussion about the actual films. Seriously, it’s nothing but soibois showing off their shelves of plastic.

Bringing up Baby never gets old.

Not sure if this is /film/ material but I've been meaning to delve into post-New Hollywood American film and I though DePalma would be a nice start.

Which one should I watch?
>Dressed to Kill
>Blow Out
>Obsession

why do so many golden age hollywood flicks have a pointless romantic subplot

After watching My Dinner with Andre I've been hit with an uncomfortable realisation that both Malle films I've seen were leaning really hard on the script without doing anything interesting with the visuals. Le Feu Follet was less extreme about this, but it was definitely propped up by its dialogues. My Dinner with Andre really shows its theatrical roots and feels more like it would be better served as an audio book.

Are there more "visual" Malle movies?

The only Malle movie I've seen was Murmur of the Heart and it was absolute trash.

Does Yas Forums have any thoughts about the Orphic trilogy?

Malle is a mixed bag but Zazie and Black Moon are both great

Attached: Zazie Dans Le Metro (1960) - 2.webm (800x600, 2.83M)

well if we talk about overall, his influence (and also influence of soviet avant-garde directors who revolutionized editing) is the most important one, but modern cinema is influenced much more by French New Wave than Griffith.

i would also add Harakiri, or anything by Kobayashi really

I caught Hatari! on TMC the other week. Not his best movie, but the setting and soundtrack was overwhelmingly comfy.

Not really.

is this the only soviet horror film?
