One of my Dad's best friends is Chilean but I feel awkward speaking Spanish to him because he is native, so I've only ever heard him speak English.What makes other Spanish sound retarded in your opinion? For example, for whatever reason I am able to understand Ana De Armas in Spanish because she seems to speak clearly, but I have no idea what her accent is, but not most other Spanish speakers. I have massive trouble with understanding. Argentinian Spanish for example (i'm not saying it's bad, just different).

i was just baiting, Chilean is very different from other accents but i'm sure he would be able to understand you. Also, because Chilean is so different from other dialects we know how to standardize our accent, from my experience, Argentinians don't do that and just expect foreigners to understand them.
