1. WW1 is very very evil and the polar opposite of the spirit of the EU.
The Italians and Austrians should listen to Mozart and Verdi while eating Sachertorte and Tiramisù instead of killing each other.

2. Italy's main merit was to survive the defeat of Caporetto and be able to rearrange a working army and block A-H's army on the Piave river.
That was quite an accomplishment but before of that, under Cadorna, the performance of the Italian army was awful and also cruel towards the Italian soldiers.
Overestimating the strenght of the Italian military because of the victory in WW1 was one of the main mistakes in the following years and it led to the atrocious performance in WW2 (helped by the incompetence of the fascists).

It was Cadorna who fought on the Isonzo, not Diaz.

1) Austria literally invaded Italy
2) I previously said Cadorna was a shithead but Diaz was much much better

Serbians did it, they hold them alone despite being a meme small and poor country.
Nobody talks about Serbia despite it being one of the most importat theaters. If they fell Greeks and all the balkans would be dominated by the cetral powers.

There used to be a quarrel between Austria and Italy since the wars of independence.
The controversy should have been solved diplomatically and not through war.
Just like Italy had ceded Nice to France, A-H could have ceded Trento and Trieste in return for other favors.
Austria "invaded" Italy because they were at war and Italy did the same with Austria after Vittorio Veneto.
After the war Italy snatched Sudtyrol/Alto Adige and did pretty mych the same that Austria had done with Trento and Trieste before.
