Silly argument. I don't get why people think the CCP is unpopular with Chinese people. They love it! It is the same as how the Germans loved the NSDAP despite there being no free and fair elections.
Also, democracy relies on an informed citizenry, this information is controlled by media conglomerates. Democracy is just media rule, this is why nothing much really changes from party to party.

If the Chinese people get to choose between the CCP and a party that commits to not using totalitarian means, not censoring all state media, not persecuting religious minorities, not executing dissenters for trivial protests and not harvesting organs, which do you think they'd choose? Not really, in fact the NSDAP in the early 1930s was so small and weak that it actually had to form a coalition with the monarchists, from which position Hitler and his clique eventually took over by authoritarian means. But here you still make a better case considering the Germans had a choice in being ruled by the NSDAP, whereas the Chinese did not have a choice in who won the civil war or who wins factionalist in-party disputes after the death of Mao.

Again: if the CCP thought they could consistently win free elections, they'd have free elections.
