Spain was in a very bad situation. If it hadn't been Franco, somebody else would have begun a war, and sooner or later we would have had a repressive, authoritarian regime like his.

So, civil war? Ok, not cool, but understandable.

But the regime should have lasted much less. He could have ended it after the war, or WWII or the 60s, when Spain had already changed a lot in many aspects. But he died 36 years later, in bed. Fuck that.
