Shinichi Mochizuki (望月 新) thought up the inter-universal Teichmüller theory.
He has complained that no-one in the field of math peer reviewed his piece to verify it.
When Germans Peter Scholze and Jakob Stix reviewed it and found flaws he said found issues were "absurd and futile".
Everyone who vouches for Mochizuki is Japanese with the exception of Russian Ivan Vesenko.
Prominent opposition include India-American Kiran Kedlaya, Russian-American Edward Frenkel and British scientific journal Nature.
Because nobody wanted to vouch (to be able to publish) for Mochizuki, Mochizuki decided to publish in magazin Publications of the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS), a journal of which Mochizuki is chief editor.

there is no conspiracy in mathematics to pretend someone's result isn't true.
people do not accept his constructs because they have logical flaws. instead of addressing them and trying to correct them, he simply dismisses them. wille's first proof of fermat's last theorem had logical flaws, so he had to discard it and rewrite from there until he reached the wanted conclusion, this is supposed to be part of the process, not "fuck them, they are wrong and I am right!".
