Despite the streetshitting memes. India (and Pakistan to the same extent) is a large country and many parts can be very comfy. Especially the countryside where the driving force industrialization still hasn't reached and people live simple lives. I guess it can be attractive to Westerners who have lived their entire lives in a post-industrial society. I remember this old English couple who lived in our town where the man worked as a tailor and the woman ran a flowershop, they seemed pretty content with their lives.
