I don't think mine is normal so take this with a grain of salt. She's absolutely spastic and screams when she's happy. Very wary of strangers and doesn't relax in public. Clingy and loves to cuddle, loves water and is great off leash. I have a Belgian shepherd too and he's always been a lot calmer but he won't come back when called if he's found something interesting.

The Tervuren handles it much easier than the Swiss. When I got him the breeders explained to me that the various layers of fur actually insulate from heat as well as cold, so shaving them is really dumb. Comparatively the Swiss has only fairly short hair and she struggles, tends to sleep on hard cold tiles on hot days.

Reminds me of my Border Collie/German Shepherd mix and my turbo-mutt Cattle Dog mix. Even with much longer hair the Collie/Shepherd mix seems to handle the heat much better outside yet insists on sleeping on tile and wood floors as it's cooler.

My Terv still does it too sometimes, also digs holes under trees and sleeps in them which is cute. I always loved cattle dogs but when I got my first dog I wasn't allowed to get one because my family didn't like them ;_;

I like sheep dog breeds more than cattle dog breeds personally as cattle dogs instinctively want to bite and nip. Sheep dogs literally just want to run and chase but aren't really biters.
Cattle dogs are also assholes if not trained early as they're instinctively told to be to handle cows.
Like I said, my cattle dog mix is a turbo-mutt, we have no idea what else it's mixed with but she's a sweetie

Really like it when dogs are big and fluffy, they are so cute.
Also recently learned about Shikoku Inu breed, something in between Shiba and Akita with a color of wolf. Looks pretty cool as well.
