We can be very judging, that doesn't necessarily limit to race. People here probably don't want to appear racist because of our history, but their actual opinions might be different. And even if we don't mean to be racist, being so judgemental could make people think we're racist nevertheless.

Depends on where you are. I’d say most of the country is racist and there are racists everywhere, but metropolitan centers in California are vehemently anti-racist and open expressions of racism in these cities mean career suicide as well as the entire community banding against you.
