Colors mean nothing, though various people have given them meaning after-the-fact.
Overall design was given to us by the Brits (pic related). They give us a cuck stamp and 13 stripes 1 for each Colony.
We then fought them and replaced the cuck stamp with a field of stars. One star for each state (50 stars as of 1960)

There are a few, in northern Ireland mostly. Although when the flag was designed, "northern Ireland" as a thing didn't exist so originally it meant to represent the British rulers, whom were protestant, and all the house of commons which were protestant. The colour orange comes from king William the orange, who's responsible for there being any protestants in northern Ireland at all.

Our population used to be like 10-15% protestant but they mostly fled the country to britain fearing reprisals when we got independence. No reprisals ever came though, the protestant minority here has never been harassed
