Why do smart Americans let stupid Americans control their country?
America is the only first world country where it seems stupid people have a disproportional say in politics.
I mean, we have just as many stupid people here in Germany, but we put a muzzle on them. We don't let them run the country.

Democracy per definition favors the stupid masses over the smart elite. I don't know why people think it's such a great system.

Our country is decentralized enough that retards in charge don't have enough control to undermined the achievements of smart people in local governments, corporations, and private education/research yet it's federalized enough that we still have a coherent unified direction as a country.
