Why are south Germans so much warmer and more friendly?

Back in the old days before the wars happened and we were very friendly, there was most admiration for Saxony and Bavaria

Germany is a very federal place and it has always been this way. North Germans are just different from South Germans in that regard.

thr UK and Bavaria never had special relations, in fact Bavaria allied with France on several occasions to become more powerful within Germany, to which the other German states responded by allying with other powers such as the UK
War of the Spanish Succession or also the Napoleonic Wars come to mind

This. People in the protestant parts of the South tend to be less friendly while people in the catholic parts in the North are more outgoing.

Northern Germany historically borders with Scandinavian countries while the South shares borders with Italy and France. As Scandi cultures tend to be cold and autistic there might be some influence too.

Another factor is Prussian influence. Prussia incorporated most parts of Northern Germany and was notorious for grim militarism and pietist protestantism. Some of this can still be felt in Berlin today.
