Now although kinda true thats not to say there isnt some issues regarding race in mexico but is more subtle and many people arent even fully aware of it, say no one thinks of canelo wich is obviouslly way more european than julio cesar chavez as to be of different "races" as you would percieve 2 people that phisically different in the US, they just mexicans ergo mestizos, their most prominent difference for us is that one is from jalisco and the other from chihuahua

Racism is expressed in the form of eurocentric standars of beauty, sure we all mestizos snd thats cool, biut is more aspirstional to have lighter skin and other features, upper classes also tend to be more on the euro side of mixture so its a sign of wealth as well, thats why in all mexican movies or tv shows the leads will be whiter and words like indio are used to describe someone ugly or unrefined, closes analogy i can think off is colorism amongst african americans
