Lutherans are kind of a rare breed here, and I live in a country were two thirds of the population are nominally baptized Lutherans and a majority of them have gone through confirmation. Sweden is very atheistic

The Church has been controlled nby the state ever since the Lutheran reformation. So while the politicians were making the state secular, they started making some changes to the church structure too. For an example they forced the church to have female priests even though all priests were against it. During the 1950s the bishops wrote letters warning against homosexuality, 2008 the politicians made gay marriage a part of the church.

And even though the church was separated from the state during the 2000s, it is still controlled by politicians. The same politicians that are involved in normal politics. And they're all secular.

The church has luterally hired imams in some cases but priests rejecting female priests are immediately removed from their positions and lose the right to work as a priest.

It's surreal.
